i have a relatively high mileage engine, currently at 155k km (96k mi). it's got a blitz air element, de-cat, straight-through exhaust with a kakimoto backbox, but i'm thinking of putting a baffle on my backbox for some peace and quiet -- i must be getting old, lol!
so now, the question is; will the increased back-pressure do any harm to my engine, given its age..?
ideas people.. ideas.. :)

no it wont affect anything the amount of back pressure it will cause will not be half as much as a cat or a silencer. I have one for my blitz nur spec and its surprising how much of a differance it make for a bit of pipe lol.

Its should not make any difference to your crank case pressure unless your piston rings are well worn or the valve guides it will be fine I am sure. But it will make the exhaust much quieter mine make a big difference and a lot more pleasant on long drives.

quiet

i know it really quietens down the engine.. well, if i do decide to go with it, i will sure miss waking up other car alarms in underground parking lots.. :) :p

backbox baffles vs. power

raising this post back from the dead.. how much do these backbox baffles impact power delivery/power-band response..? is there any noticeable difference..? anyone on here who has got dyno readings with and without the bung..?

the one for the nurspec doesnt really reduce the diameter of the exhaust bore. it makes no difference imo.
