im a donor, sure i became a donor a long time ago. would donate anything, and god forbid i ever needed, would hope there would be some1 to donate to me.

if possible i would only donate to others who are also organ donors, why should my body parts save the life of some1, who was not willing to do the same back.

i want to be burnt, so watever body parts are missing only makes my wee jar lighter lol.

Well only just read rest of this been away.

Well i put this on another forum and was nice to see that 76% said "yes they were on register and yes would accept an organ" and also quite chuffed that a few were even inspired to register from reading the thread.

Made an interesting read anyway :)

I'm not on the organ donor list yet but it is on my "to do" list. If there's anything left useable when I'm gone I've got no problems with someone else getting some use out of it. Except my eyes, they can't take my eyes!

i just think you live and then you die, simple as that. you are born with what you are born with. if you get a disease and die or an organ fails or you get hit by a bus, then that is it, game over.

I agree 100% with everything you have said.

I am exactly the same, im not on the register, and nor will i ever be. I have had no vaccinations, or anything like that,

Im quite happy taking my chances, If TB doesnt kill me something else will!

Im not religous at all, but i do beleive in the law of averages and odds (possibly even fate if thats what you can call it?).. IF my time is up, regardless of what i have done, something will kill me. Everyone has their time, if its your time, no matter what you have done, you will die.

If its not your time, you'll survive..

You see people who shouldnt be alive today surviving all kinds of terrible illnesses etc, and people with only minor illnesses dying... If its your time you could die from a cold, if its not, your heart can pack up and you can still survive.

Thats my 2cents on it all, might be a bit extreme for some people

EDIT _ just to clarify, ive put no im nto and no i wouldnt accept an organ if i needed one, but i think until you are in that situation then it is impossible to tell what your reaction and decision would be. Its a tough one to decide until you are in that position, and like you said Kelly, everyone has their price...

i believe it strongly enough that i would not want them to take a donated organ, but as my girlfriend would say the opposite my decision would get overruled so makes no difference.

I think thats preety sick to tell the truth dude! I cant understand how people could refuse a operation that could potentially save there childs life because of there twisted views! :shoot:

Have you ever been to the dentist? Taken cough medicine, anti biotics?

its only a twisted view in your opinion mate. everyone has their views on things and your entitled to yours as much as i am to mine.

i dont have, or ever want children for multiple reasons so it was a bit pointless me answering the question in the first place to be completely honest. and like i said, my wishes would be overruled one way or the other so it makes a shits worth or difference what i think :(

What you are saying is humans cannot shouldn't be fixed? I bet if your piston went in your starlet you wouldn't just scrap it.

Weather or not i would accept an organ really depends on what i have to live for, who depends on me etc. I think i would donate when i am gone though.

Ive heard quite a few ppl say that about tempting fate. But you i guess you cant change what will be will be.
Never know it may work the opposite you may get better luck/health or whatever you may think because you did something kind (thats if you see it as a kind act etc dont wanna step on anyones toes here)

For anyone wanting to register it literally takes 60seconds or so.

I'd easily take an organ and although I'm not on a register, if I bought the farm I would love if my organs could help a worthy cause.

Would hate if my body parts went to some drunk or junkie scum if I was to die, although not as if I could do anything about it really.

I would call it my one act of good in my life in a last gasp attempt to avoid the express elevator to hell, which I'm most likely got a front row seat booked already.

Front row seat to hell ftw

Ive thought about this a few times. Im not on the register, and though i would love to be, there is something that disturbs shit out of me thinking bout someone removing your organs and even eyes when your dead.
Then i start thinking, what happens when you turn into a ghost, and got no eyes, will you still be able to see? Thats mostly where i start confusing myself.
As someone above said, id rather go down with my shit in tact.

Although I would love to have the balls to register, and one day hopefully will. When my best mate was killed, his parents decided to donate his organs and seeing how it made his parents that little bit happier knowing he had helped breath new life into 3 or 4 different people ranging from 3 years old to mid 40s was kind of inspiring, so as i said, hopefully one day i`ll pluck up the courage.

Preventative medicine is fine if your into it, i actually suffer from Mesanteric Adonitis, And its excruciating, I am basically prescribed morphine for it, but ive never felt the need to take it, i just get on with it, its not going to kill me...

Im not on about going to the dentist, Im on about Vccinating yourself against stuff etc, taking organs to save your life, etc

I wont be vaccinated against anything, Id much rather take my chances, might not get it anyway...

And i firmly beleive that if im gonna die, recieving an organ off someone, will postpone it (or might not, who knows) but if it is your time, then it doesnt matter if they give you 12 organs, your still gonna die...

Firstly I have the utmost respect for anyone who puts their name down on a donor card, doing such a simple thing can mean a whole new life to someone who is in desperate need and has no other means off recovery,I have personal experience off this..

After all anyone who is on a transplant list is only there because it is the very last resort, its a case off receive an organ or die.If they are not lucky to get an organ or whatever they have very little chance off surviving.

Unfortunately most people waiting for a transplant never get one and a lot off people unfortunately die while waiting.A hell off a lot off luck is involved I believe and I have experienced this and heard many amazing stories off successful transplants!!

For all those people who say they would'nt get a donor card because off their religion, fair enough its your decision and only your decision but I have seen the difference such a seemingly simple gift this can do to someones life.

To say you would'nt accept an organ if you were told there was no other option may sound easy to say but ultimately when you hear the doctor say "its this or die.." can clear up your mind pretty quick.
At the end off the day your body will only be food for the earthworms, this may sound like a horrible statement but unfortunately its the truth.

I seen on a BBC documentary that they are already creating small versions off organs such as livers, kidneys and heart valves in the lab so hopefully maybe in the next 5-10 years this will become a lot more common an so people will not have to make the decision to donate.Medicine can advance pretty quickly but unfortunately not quickly enough for some people as I'm sure some off you know.

Giving the gift off life to someone is maybe not an easy decision, but it is probably the ultimate gift...
