Piston of a 4E to a 2E

Hi Guys,

I have trouble finding pistons for my engine in the Caribbean, US and this region. My engine is a 1.3 2E Turbo(japanese). I have little hurry to have my car back running.

I've been told that i could use pistons of a 4E Turbo engine as long it's also 1.3 as what i have. It sounds a little logical, but it doesn't convince me.

What can you advice me? Is this true. If not what other solutions are there so i don't have to wait 3 to 4 weeks to get the pistons all the way from Japan?

Thnx in advance

I have sorta been looking into this myself... Only looking into fitting 3ETE pistons to a 5E (both 1.5)

Now i dont know if its possibly. What i do know i the 3E amd 5E share the same crank,.

Both the 2E and the 4E have the same stroke, but this doesnt mean the pistons will fit the rods.....

The only problem is this:

2E and 3E have a bore of 73mm (2E is about 1290cc isnt it?) The 4E is 74mm, 1331cc. It might work if you have your block bored out to 74mm.

I would consider buying one piston (they are only about £30, not sure how they price up over there) and compare to what you have (if you have the engine apart that is

3E IS 12 valve and the 5e is 16 valve..pistons wont match up with the head and they are also smaller

yeah but 12v will mean it has 2 intake valves. The cut outs are for intake valves. I think its a long shot myself too but i think i will ask toyota soon how much a 3e piston is!

as for size yeah i know they smaller, but thjey should do oversize.

Altho i suspect knowing my luck they will opnly go to 1mm oversize (74mm) and i want to rebore mine to 74.5 in case of wear
