Hello guys!!!!
After my cylinder block cracked, as i said in a previous thread, i decided to rebuild my engine due to the fact that all the forged parts of mine are in good condition... :)
My question is , if i dont use wiseco piston rings and use other brand's rings such as Hastings would i have any problem?????
My mechanic said that it wont have any problems and that is the best solution because there is a big difference in the price ...
Also is there anyone who did this before and what are the pros and the cons if there are any??
Thanks a lot in advance and greetings from Cyprus!!!!:)

Never mis matched rings myself, but if they are the same size then cant see it being an issue.

My thought would be this but, if they are not right, it will cost a head gasket and new head bolts, plus more labour costs to change them if they dont work right, plus the possibility of damaged ring lands which could well mean new pistons.

Are they really that much cheaper?

Asuming you are that far and building s forged piece to handle extreme conditions i suggest you use the correct parts. Get a set of rings from wiseco that way you know you wont have any concerns.

The Hastings rings will handle the boost no problem. But as far as I remember the Wiseco pistons ring lands are not the same as OEM 4E ones.
I used a cheaper brand than Hastings and had no problems at all.
If they fit correctly(including ring land depth) then go for it :)
And also do good inspection on the Wiseco ring lands.
