Project BadgerSport

Last thing I expected was a question on the floor paint lol.. I'll hoke out the tin and let you boys know what it is. The important thing is to seal the floor first with watered down adhesive which gives the paint something to cling to.

Tonight has been a night off the spanners. Was on them around 17 hours on Saturday between cars. Prepping the engine on Friday then hope to drop it into the bay on Saturday.

Managed to spare an few hours tonight so we're lining up for a relaxed weekend.

Exhaust removed:

TRD rear mount installed. You can see in the comparison pic that the TRD bush is solid and the stock Toyota one is open:

4EFE fuel pump removed:

badgersport2016.jpg

Never actually seen a NA fuel pump assembley before so this was new to me.

NA versus Turbo assembley:

Comparing the pumps:

badgersport2029.jpg

The old gauze was a bit manky :

badgersport2030.jpg

So I used the JDM one:

badgersport2033.jpg

There is a slight difference in size but I doubt it's of any concern:

Everything put back together:

Also had a look at the boost gauge Phil had lined up. I'm not 100% on it as it doesn't match anything:

badgersport2046.jpg

I use this monster Blitz gauge for random fuelling runs when there's no boost gauge in the car. I reckon it's a better option but we'll see what he thinks when he sees it.

Planning to prep the engine on Friday all being well.

Cheers for all the feedback folks.

Think that new gauge suits it much better with the other gauges mate, I even have the one he chose originally aswell!

We'll see what he thinks on Saturday mate, I know what I'd use.

Right, was time to prep the engine. Given the weather outside I was glad of some shelter, I'm used to working outside during the winter (usually warmer than inside the old garage!) so a nice dry arena is a novelty which won't wear off any time soon!

Here's our victim. Semi cleaned and still a bit manky. I needed to mint it up sharpish so the work began.

badgersport3006.jpg

First problem - this aftermarket sender doesn't fit the block, we'll just have to go with the stock oil pressure switch until Phil finds an alternative.

Alternator and belt fitted:

Inlet manifold fitted:

Thermo housing cleaned and installed:

This rocker cover was fucking me off it so it got attacked.

Was going to add some lines but I couldn't find the chalk..

badgersport3061.jpg

Put it all together and we get:

badgersport3059.jpg

Much better!

Now for some drive. TRD unit compared to the Excedy unit that was on the engine:

Had to steal back my clutch alignment tool from my auto GT. Goes to show how many clutches I do..

badgersport3081.jpg

I've taken to leaving myself notes now that the memory is getting worse.

Full house:

Mounted up and ready to lift:

(lol)

So close it can taste it:

badgersport3091.jpg

I finished around eleven, still have to find a few bolts for the splashplate on the gearbox but otherwise we're fit to fit.

Wee John mentioned that the PAS pump and feed pipe may need swapped from a Glanza so I'll investigate that tomorrow amongst other things. Hope the colour scheme (or lack there of) hasn't upset Philius too much, it's easy changed if he needs to put his stamp on the engine.

Cheers folks, moving along nicely so far with minimum fuss.

The actual engine fit was meant to be tomorrow but I just got this notion in my head that it needed done today. One can of Red Bull later and I was much happier.

Nom Nom Nom..
