It's been so long since I saw my TOMS wheels on a car. Makes me long for the trackstar back ffs..

The donor car has some panel damage and would take some TLC to get her looking sweet again. I've been using it as a cheap runabout and to be fair the car is worth saving especially in this colour.

Plan is to rip the engine and gearbox out then set her in the corner of the yard. If anyone fancies a project or fresh shell just call down, have scan round her and we can discuss the options.

Cheers,

Jay

Doing the same to Jimmers at the minute Johnboyo, you are welcome to bring the marigolds down and treat your engine bay to a deep cleanse once we get some space back!

please put us out of our misery, what bhp was the 5e in the end

The only estimate I can offer on that point is - NOT ENOUGH! ;)

Suppose we should really recap everything first..

Well I had been handed Joz's pride and joy :

Joz1033.jpg

Which was powered by one slow-ass 5E :

Which was promptly removed :

And sold to fund the best donor GT we could find :

This left me with a rather clean engine bay:

And a rather dirty engine :

Quite a lot of oil but we had allowed for a full engine gasket kit from Toyota so everything to replace the old gaskets and seals was close to hand.

The engine was split and in the process the crank and bearings were examined. The wear was outside what we had anticipated so a full strip down and rebuild began under the watchful and experienced hands of (Secret) Steve. This added a lot of time to the build but given the end product it made serious sense.

- Cylinder head tested, skimmed, port matched and chemically cleaned.
- Engine block tested, skimmed, bores rehoned and chemically cleaned.
- Three angle valve grind
- Crank polished
- New Toyota oil pump
- New Toyota piston ring set
- New ACL bearings
- New Toyota valve stem oil seals
- New Toyota headgasket
- New Toyota crank oil seals
- New Toyota oil filter flange gaskets
- New Toyota rocker cover gasket
- New Toyota camshaft seals
- New Toyota Inlet manifold gasket
- New Toyota Exhaust manifold gasket
- New Toyota turbo oil return pipe
- New Toyota Rotor arm and distributor cap
- New Toyota Inlet manifold port matched
- New timing belt and rollers
- New Toyota injector seals
- New Blueprint fuel filter
- New NGK sparkplugs
- New Blueprint Waterpump
- Various other bits I can't recall

So with the engine back I merrily ploughed on with the build..

Decided to take a gamble on the inlet colour (after being egged on by Wee John)

Other additions that spring to mind are :

Ported CT9 manifold from EJ
Walbro fuel pump
HKS exhaust system
Zisco CT9 down pipe with external screamer
Braided oil feed and return pipe from JD Tuning
Blitz BOV and turbo 'up' pipe
CT9B from a Glanza
Blitz panel filter
Apexi boost gauge
Blitz turbo timer
HKS actuator

Here's the brain handling the boost:

Wee John was on suicide watch for a week or so due to some wiring difficulties but the boy did good in the sparks dept keeping me right with various mechanical areas too. A true gent for not quitting lol.

The exhaust lined up nicely too. (I think everyone now agrees it's a HKS backbox!)

Meanwhile the interior was doing some 'growing up' lol.

This is the temporary fix until Joz finds his ideal armchairs:

After building everything back up externally and washing the bodywork it was evident she was turning pink..

SERIOUS thanks go to

Wee John - Legend
(Secret) Steve - Awesome
AlanD & SamFN2 - For making her red again
Joz - Patient beyond belief
Plus - anyone who called in and give us all guidance and input on the build.

So that brings us up to speed so far folks. I've clocked 111.1 miles on the fresh 4EFTE and it's been flawless so far. I'll try to keep this thread up to date with developments. :D

Thanks for reading,

Jay
