Removing power steering unit and pipes in Bay

Can anyone suggest the best way to remove the power steering unit, lines and brake lines?
I am prepping the engine to paint and would like to remove as much as I can to get a decent finish. I am unsure if It’s easy to disconnect the lines on the fire wall and remove the power steering unit as a whole or remove all the lines individually?
Thanks for any info.

Power steering pump can be left connected, just remove all the bolts that hold the lines into the bay and let it hang loose for handiness.

Brake lines are a bit of a bugger though, will need the 10mm securing bolts removed first then see if you can work around them. Probably have to take them out individually to get a neat finish but you might get away with leaving them connected and just masking as required. The ABS pump is an absolute handling so fingers crossed you get away with it.

Do you really have to spray the bay? You would be quite surprised how good it comes out after a good clean. It is a engine bay after all going to look dirty again in no time.

Can be done so you retain the height adjustable steering column of the EP82, but keep the EP80 Non-PS rack.

Can't say I recommend it for a daily driver mind you :D

I have done hat you advised with the pump s far, but it was more so how to remove the abs module (silver module in the pic above with all the lines going to it and abs plugs no the top). I have a 10mm open ended spanner ready to remove the lines etc. I was hoping to mask a majority of the stuff off in the bay but, realistically the more I remove the easier it will be to spray.

I did think about this as it creates more room etc, but the car gets used daily at times. I don't want to have to turn into Jonny Bravo to park the thing lol.

Definitely something to consider. I have been putting this job off for months tbh. There are only a couple of rust spots in the bay...its mostly a build up of dirt over the past 30+ years. That being said a freshly rebuilt engine is going in the bay, so part of me thinks to do a properly and give the engine a fresh lick of paint with the fresh bolt kit etc from Flos.ie

Exactly that Cal . If the car wasn't used daily I would consider it.
How's yours coming along? Is it all up and running now?

I haven't seen it in 7 years. The chap that's storing it for me had it valeted the other week though. He said it looks better now than it did when I dropped it off :p

Currently in the final stages of this Aprilia ETX rebuild.

Same basic platform as your old MX but heavily restricted.

I'm just restoring it and chucking on the MX parts to get it to full power.

I am building a Mito 350 at the moment and the engine alone is costing £8000 just for the parts!

I'm getting close to roll my chassis. 421cc two stroke engine with ZX10R forks on it. Coming in around 110Kgs with 70ish HP on tap.

The bike on the right is my brothers and it's an absolute ripper. So I'm building my own, although I'll be using a Ducati Monster as the inspiration.

It'll basically be like my Raptor....

5 year project and I'm approaching the two year mark :p

I did the PS mod for "fun", can't say I recommend it, only for the die hard fans.
