Rev meter not functioning properly

Hi guys I have an automatic ep82 gt and I’m currently doing a restoration on it but I ran in to an issue and would like a some advice on it … my car revs but the amount of rev is not corresponding to the rev meter in the dash board
…. Please help

I had that recently. I replaced the speedo cluster and it solved it. I need to have a look at the speedo when I get some time to see what the issue is.

It may be worth pulling it out and taking a look at the connections first to see if it is a simple fix.
 
it happened on my friend's gt...he had to get a second hand gauge cluster to replace it

you may have to take the faulty unit to an electrical repairman to get checked

Yea the clusters can be changed handy enough
If you strip it down and inspect the circuit boards you will likely find a few circuits going brown and/or resistors/capacitors leaking
Older Toyota electronics can be a proper cnut

When I have finished my forged build and have some time I will look into why mine had started to fail. Seems to be getting a bit more common now, so would be good to have a fix rather than people throwing them away :)

yeah, old age seems to really be catching up with these cars now
