mmm,do they give much bothr in general terry?you work with lexus dont you?

I only work with brand spanking new ones mate, so can't really tell you much. My boss has had one for a few years and it's not given him any trouble.

Again, down to your budget but what about an Auris T180? Only problem is they cant be remapped (only "chipped") due to the denso stuff,so ive heard.
Only problem they have is carbon build up if your doing mega motorway stuff and the headgaskets can go (engine out job) again, more the mile munchers that go. That goes for the is220 aswell.

its a pity they dont come in the lovely isf blue colour.:(

They don't get a great write up on owners club site - but then again it tends to be people join that site to moan about problems - there are probably loads of owners happy but there have been some serious issues . You would have to read the posts to see what I mean - dont buy one till you have joined the site and checked it out.

Like I said maybe a lot of moaners but there does seem to be the same issues crop up a lot - rattly dash, 5th injector problem and some much more serious repeated faults.

Have a read of this thread if you can access it.

To be fair, that thread contains only 47 posts with 138 votes, so it doesn't really represent the majority of Lexus owners and an IS220d isn't really what you would describe as an enthusiasts car, so like you say the majority of those owners have likely joined that forum because they've experienced problems. Toyota easily put more than 138 IS through the workshop each month and occasionally you'll see more than that in a single week, so I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

Personally I wouldn't spend my money on an IS, but that's not from having any quality concerns, they just don't float my boat. Although it is fun abusing an IS-F every now and again. :D

Can you show me the shape you are referring to?

I've had Audi in mind, but only A3's catch my eye and though they are nice looking cars, they don't have much appeal to me.

Something like this does, but they are too expensive.

without a doubt i'd be looking at the Seats, mum had an ibiza sport 130 and it was mucho fun, only 130bhp but response and low down acceleration was great.

was gonna buy it but she needed as much money as poss to go towards the next one.

test drove the petrol and diesel Leon back to back and preferred the diesel around town cos it was more responsive whereas the petrol you had to wind up. the petrol was quicker though.

Yes mate agreed maybe not the majority . There are a load of other posts along similar lines though. Also on another Jap forum I go on. Was thinking maybe getting one myself someday but seems like the is250 petrol doesn't seem to suffer the same issues. Slightly better performance wise and the mpg is not much worse if at all so that might be the way to go for me.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, will bookmark this page when the time comes.

I think it would have to be a 2.0L turbo diesel. Yes, something with a bit of poke is preferred, but buying a diesel would also be about cuttings on runnings costs.
