Spark plugs

OK lads going to service the car over the weekend. What plugs do i get the BKR6e's are bkr7e plugs? I am running stock boost with a td04 turbo and don't drive the sxxt out off the car 90% off the time.

And

How often do you lads change the engine oil, kms i mean? I change mine at around 10k are every 6 months. I do high mileage on the Gt for the age off gt.

Thanks

this is a subjective area and depends on so many variables
anyways, from the time i began to mod my car i went with bkr7e on both the ct9 and td04l, as the boost was turned up and i wanted the safety buffer in my hot climate
when i went up to td05 sized turbos i went to brk8e, for the same reasons

i change oil approximately every 2000km i'd say around every 6 months to 1 year,,, my car does not drive very often
i can go longer with oil changes i suppose as i run a decent synthetic oil, but again, i prefer extra safety and the benefits outweigh the costs by far

under normal circumstances i'd guess oil changes can be around 5000/10000km with good synthetic oils...but i'd stick to the lower amount given its a turbo engine and may be better in the long run

see what the others says

I service every 5000 kms or year, whichever comes first. Fresh oil and filter will keep things right usually. Used to be a high miler but nowadays it's an annual event.

For spark plugs I haven't really strayed from NGK BKR7EIX iridiums myself but only only because they were the go-to plug in the early days. Plenty of owners running higher. lower and even cheaper copper plugs. I only stepped up to heat range 8 on the high power stuff. 7's should be fine for the likes of TDO4.

OK that's spot on with the spark plugs

I have to change the oil and filter more often so, 5k oil change would be every 3months for the kms I do

Yeah I was doing powerful mileage on my auto. At one point I was changing oil and filter every 6 weeks ffs, it was easily 500 miles a week I was doing. Glad I've eased back!

i do my daily GT oil change once a year, but i do pretty low mileages. my other 2 starlets get a change every year or so, but sometimes i wont use the car for an entire year, so sometimes i let it go a bit longer before changing it.

plug wise, i stick with heat range7, but all mine have raised boost levels. never had any issues with them, even when driving gentle and shorter journeys, but i only use the GTs in the summer months anyway.

6's or 7's will be fine tbh.

Fiesta rs turbo plugs I use, cant mind the number but they where recommend.
Oil and filter every summer or 5000K on all the cars :)

i use cheap NGK copper plugs because i change them at least yearly and my car does very limited driving as i said before.
plus i found them to work great even at higher boost levels

if you do a lot of mileage then iridium plugs may be better as it would reduce the change intervals

Yea the iridiums for the Caldina should do at least 40k from gt-four experience :) pricey enough from Toyota at 9 pound a go but my other gt-four was 17 a go lol

Copper plugs conduct better so should actually give a better spark, but for most people it makes little to no difference. Iridiums and platinums are only to extend service life.

If you change them often or aren't bothered by the cost or hassle of changing them, coppers are the superior plugs for performance.

Exactly this, they also resist fouling a bit better.

It is the sole reason I switched to copper beside the cost.
