Hi, I was wondering if there is a factory gearbox from toyota that will go into a GT-T caldina without to much mods, something that is stronger then the factory GT-T gearbox, maybe a celica box is stronger? any ideas? Thanks

A lot of the part numbers for the ST215 are specific to that model, including all the internal gears and case assemblys for the manual gearbox and transfer box. Its a heavier car than the ST205 so they might have beefed it up for that.

I would have a look at GT4 rally spares for an uprated box for that car and see where that takes you, it will probably have to be an internal rebuild.

33101-200500 is the ST215 manual case assembly part number, if that comes up anywhere it could get you started.

Thanks

Are you sure it isn't a worn gearbox or engine mount causing the knocking noise?

Knocking sounds can travel through the shafts or other metal parts into the gearbox then it is amplified as its a big drum so to speak. The fault may not lie in the box itself.

As Texx says, check out a few other things as well.

Gearbox

Gratings from Norway, The Caldina manual uses the E150F gearbox that also the st185 uses. The st205 will be a upgrade because it uses dual cone synchros, the case nr is E154f. And the ratios is the same for st-185, st-205 and st-215.
The st215 has alot of partsnr different from other Toyotas even if its the same part. the back endlings is the same as the Lexus 300, Front brake calipers is for the Avensis 2003 here in europe. What i would love is a higher 5 gear for speed driving.

hey, thanks for all the replies. I was thinking the fault was in the gearbox as the noise goes away when i push the clutch pedal down, although i guess it could be because its taking load off the engine. I have spoken to a few toyota mechanics and wreckers and they agree the ST205 manuel is a good upgrade and will bolt in.

Hi I am currently in the process of swapping my gtt caldinas e150f 08B with a blowen transfer box and replacing it with a e150f 734 out of a st185 but not sure if the diff ratios will be the same, Have you considered this? Or can anyone help?

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I’m sure if you depress the clutch and the noise goes away means your transmission input shaft bearing is bad do some teaser have on that might not have to upgrade the whole transmission
