Starlet Engine Problem

Hello Everyone

Ive had my starlet a day and ive already had problems with it lol

I drove it 100 miles to get it back home and everything was fine. I drove it this morning and put some nice shell v power petrol in. and drove back home
Got home and thought i would start to fix my speedo as the cable needed replacing. Went for a drive to test it works and now if i give it the smallest amount of revs the engine revs will lower nearly stall, and then go back up to normal again, and if i try and drive along and put my foot down it sounds like its misfiring and keeps juddering.
Obviously ive moved something thats important and ive had a look to see if anything is loose but cant find anything not to mention it got dark by the time i could have a proper look.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what it could be?
Need to be able to drive to work tomorrow so need to fix it asap!
Thanks

Nope. I thought it might of been something electrical. cos theres alot of wiring around when trying the get at the speedo cable. Where is the map sensor pipe located?

map sensor pictured.. the pipe comes from that and goes into back of inlet manifold

I doubt it. I mean i drove about 10-15 miles back home after filling it up and like i said. it was fine this afternoon when i drove it, only since trying to sort out the speedo cable it has began.

Run a diagnostic check buddy, that could point you in the right direction:

Only things I can think of is that it's dark now. Maybe the extra draw on the alternator could be causing it as you have the lights on?

Also pop the plugleads out of the rocker cover and check down the chambers for moisture. It's common for a little water to get past the seals in wet weather/washing and this can cause misfire (albeit usually under load).

Hope that gives you something to check,

Jay

Well i did the check and i think im getting the error codes 23 and 34, apparently 34 is the turbo pressure sensor. and i have no idea what 23 is cos its not on the list. but ive made a video just so you can all tell me if they are the right codes

After making that video ive taken the battery off, and will have a look tomorrow to see if the problem still arrises. and if it does i'll do the check again and see if it does the same. cos i have no idea if they are error codes that were stored before i bought it

Turbo pressure sensor is the MAP sensor as indicated by large yellow arrow in the photo.

Yeah i know, and ive already checked that. But thats not the problem.

Will check the king lead tomorrow, im not sure how its supposed to sit, but if i try and push it on, it will go on further, and then come back out again, but not all the way

you could check it now.. disconnecting the battery for over a minute will reset the ecu..

yeah i know. But ive got a big bore exhaust system on my car and dont wanna piss the neighbours off at this time :holdit: lol. Ive never heard of them on a starlet before but its made by tiger i think? Thats what it says on the tip anyways

Right well after checking everything over and leaving the battery disconnected overnight the car is now running as it was, but i noticed that one of the vaccume pipes is not connected to anything, and is causing my idle to be rather high, cos it goes down if i block the hole up can anyone give me an idea of where its meant to go, cos i cant see anywhere within the distance that it can reach where it connects too

as you can see the small pipe is connected to the bigger blue pipe at the back of the throttle body

also what are these connectors for?

that 2 me looks like the pipe that goes on the map sensor mate..that black thing is a small filter..remember theres a connector and pipe that goes on the map sensor
