my mate stefanos had the parts he and i made for his car painted and installed:

toyota oem-type side spoilers and rear spats, and front live sports spoiler, in carbon.

we'll be making next a tom's rear roof spoiler with the center section in carbon, and either a carbon bonnet vent or a whole Gi bonnet in carbon.

So are you a laminator mate? Been laminating for just over a year now building international and Olympic high performance racing boats! Looked hard at first but as long as you cut the glass right, roll it up well, lay it up straight and with no bubbles, its easy!! Can't wait to get my car, gunna take a mould of the body kit and make a carbon one. Loads of carbon bits and bobs too. I get the epoxy resin and gel coats and glass cheap haha ;) top quality shit too as the company is one of the best in the world  Keep up ya good laminating matey

yeah i know that brand... for the hobbyist who just wants to cover some stuff , like you do, it's ok. before you try stuff on anything "serious", try using it on some junk.

always do what the instructions say, and be warned..you are gonna sand your ass off in order to get it perfect. this process is called an "overlay" and its a pain in the ass...it takes days to do a part. after you lay the carbon down and put your first resin, you ll have to let it dry for a day, sand it down a little (so you wont mess the fibers) and apply resin again. same thing, 5-6 times (days), until you have enough thickness to sand it totally flat, without touching the fibers. after that you clearcoat it with a spray can. good luck.

mate why sand it? You should invest in something called peal-ply, all you do is after 1st layers carbon, put the peel ply on (just like laying up glass, make sure no bubbles etc) then after the resin is off like the next day, peal it off! leaves a nice keyed off surface therefore no sanding, looks like a much tidier key too, and obviously it saves the hassle of sanding through the 1st layers! And instead of the 'waxy like' surface on Your glass, it will be on top of the peal ply. Should use higher gram glass too on the layers inbetween that u wont see so it will thicken it quicker therefore shortening the process. Just a suggestion, dunno if it will help! lads at my place been laminating for over 25 years so, maybe they are right

peel ply is used for creating a rough surface for adhesion ,for example to stick two parts of the hood together. its not meant for overlays...

basically i think you are confusing peel ply with perforated nylon , which is used for separating the laminate from the breather fabric.

you can treat it as a normal bonnet, sand it down but be careful not to go as far as the weave, give it a final sanding with 1200 grit (wet) and then clear coat it. As long as there are no actual cracks on the surface, or bare weave, it will look like new.
