TD04 external wastegate question

Hi all,

I'm in the process of installing my new TD04 kit and would like to install an external gate.

My question is- how far off the manifold can the wastegate be? I have. Few clearance issue and would need to weld x2 short 90degree elbows together and the the flange for the gate. I recon the total length would be about 150mm. I'm wanting the gate to sit in the bottom right hand corner of where the TMIC would be, just after the water pipe and in front of the rocker/cam cover.

Any information would be great

i've seen various designs over the year.....some with the wastegate close and some with it quite far from the manifold
if you scroll through the above you may pick up a few such designs

i'm not certain how or if it affect performance and boost control....maybe some member that runs a similar set up can add their experience

I had a quick look through google, and did a bit of a search. Seems that it should be ok. Looks like a few people have the EWG down by the gearbox with no troubles..........I think Ill be fine with 150mm worth of tubing.

Well better get on with it, need the car by tomorrow morning.

It shouldn't be a problem but the closer the better. Not meaning your going to put it somewhere to far. The angle of the piping seems more relevant than the length.
