Td04 turbo

Hi I have recently bought a starlet gt turbo it has the tdo4 conversion but I'm not convinced the turbo is any good! I have been looking at some on the eBay but there are so many.... Can any 'td04' be used e.g from a Mitsubishi shogun or Saab ect ect or does it need to be a scoobs wrx td04 turbo?

What makes you think its no good? Is it not spooling? Smoking? What boost are you running?

Because when under hard acceleration around 4-5000 rpm I get a loud wining/screeming noise and from doing research this is what seems to be the problem.....Rotating this is something that can be done myself surely?

You want one off an early scooby or a forester and yes you can rotate yourself it's a bitch to get the cur clip out and pliers to remove the locating pins

i think best bet is to find out what the problem is first and then go from there, rather than just throw another turbo at it. It sounds like a bit of boost leak somewhere, usually a loose intercooler pipe. What revs are you getting full boost at, and what boost are you running?
