Hi members.
Is it just on my side or is TGTT Form rather quiet?
Seems like nothing is happening in "Modification/ Technical Questions" section?
And cant see any announcements saying that it will be down for awhile or something :p

Think people have understood on how to use the search feature when it comes to "td04 kits" :haha:

I think having the "Members garage" section has killed off a lot of traffic. Nobody can be bothered to look in there to see updates on peoples cars or to comment on them, or even to update their own - there's no point if nobody looks in there. It also kills a bit of the "community spirit" when you don't have everyone commenting on each others work and so you don't get the random banter or people being more inclined to help others out because they've commented on that persons car.

I thought it was a crap idea from the start. :p I could be totally wrong but I think it's part of the reason.

I posted a technical question a few days ago. Most of the view for the thread were my own and in the end I somehow ended up answering my own question through trial and error. It was kinda depressing tbh.

its much quieter than it once was, BUT id say there is still the same/similar core of enthusiasts here.

we have had a few good meets recently over here and more upcoming.

i would brand the quality quantity phraseology around but i wouldnt want to offend or suggest that sites with more traffic have less quality members or ex.information, but its safe to say that TGTT certainly has quality, helpful, long term members. we have many old heads who no doubt have an idea off what their ideal EP might be or may already own it, but they wouldnt put down anothers efforts in anything other than jest and are very helpful to all.

i think its why alot of members browse and read up now rather than post for the sake of it, we are sitting on a wealth of starlet data already provided by starletheads down the years.

With regards to the members car section being secluded i agree its a hindrance and has been for years, but ive no idea if it can even be fixed or if TGTT admin have the option to change it, maybe its wrote into the forum software?

i give up asking technical questions. if its not about how to wire an emanage or a fcd then you rarely get an answer :(

Pity it got so quiet, used to be good craic on here a few years back when it was really busy. A lot of those members that were active back then are still here, just no one posts as much

A few very valid points raised folks, always happy to discuss the site in this respect.

I'd agree it's definitely a lot quieter, but rather than worry I'm actually quite happy that the traffic has subsided to a more manageable level nowadays. Very few people realise the pressure and stress involved in maintaining TGTT back when it was the main port.

So glad that we have slid into our dark corner of the darkside again. You'll probably also find that our regulars have matured in line with each other so there isn't the same childishness that we saw back in the hey-day. If anything we are in a much better position to offer advice as most of us have seen our fair share of trials and tribulations, both EP-related and personal. There is a better sense of collective perspective I think.

Presence at shows is something that is hard to manage. Historically we have had mixed results, it's been the same with meets in general. We tried appointing area reps but they had a hard time generating attendance at shows. Welcome to any and all thoughts on the subject though..

The Garage setup has bothered me for YEARS. It took a huge attraction for the community and set it off to one side. The unfortunate thing is the forum software won't let new posts in the Garage module appear in the regular 'What's New' or 'Todays Posts' results. This means no-one sees any fresh updates unless they specifically head into the section. It's a pain in the hole that's for sure. If there was the interest we'd certainly look at bringing the Members Cars section back into the public board?

I'm all for moving the site forward so please don't be shy. Not as if we are snowed under with moderation work. A few changes could go a long way.

Opinions welcome!

Totally agree with the 'Members Garage', it's lack of forum integration really defeats the object of that section completely. Having said that, I'm not so sure how easy it would be to port the content back over to a regular forum with threads and posts?!

Organising some show meets is something I would personally like to look at, I have been extremely busy over the last few months and hoping things will begin to calm down a little soon so I can get a clearer grip of things. I won't be able to commit just yet, but if things pan out like I hope then maybe we can generate some attendance at a few events. :)

on the dutch starlet forum we just use regular topics as showroom topics and they get a lot of updates, ppl read the ma lot, reply a lot.

so it might be an idea to just add a section like the chill out room but call it showroom and let the peeps fill it up with their cars.
you also get a good idea who is activly modding their car and when a question pops up it usually gets answered in the showroom topic itself.
