Toad Immobilzer problems

Hi Guys,

i have a bit of a problem with my car, i drove my car to my friends house, went in then around 20 mins later i went out to go home.

I disarmed the alarm as usual and tried to start the car but only the dash lights came on, the car didnt even try and turn over. I tried a few more times to start it but to no avail. when i put the key in the ignition it starts to beep and the led is red rather than green as it would be when the car would start.

The alarm is a toad ai606.

Anyone have any ideas on how to sort it?

thanks

When you put key in and turn it to on, press the button at the bottom left of key fob. Dash lights will come on. Turn key to ignition and it will start as normal.

lol....i got mine fitted today.....you only have 30 seconds to start the car. if it takes longer than that then the car wont start, if that happens then just press the unlock button again and there you go....starts like a beuty.:)

if that doesnt work then i think theres something wrong with the imobiliser and you might have to reset it(no idea how you do that)

cheers for the replies guys.

i have tried all of the suggestions as it was similar to my old clifford with the 30 second thing and the unlock button. It doesnt seem to make any difference though, its not disarming the immobilzer as it used to? i tried disconecting the battery for 30 mins to see if it reset it but it didnt help. I have also taken half the bottom of my dash of to locate the toad box and disconnected all the cables and put them back but it made no difference?

im really stuck as i will have to get the bus to work! noooooo lol.

thanks again.

you should have an overide push to make button located in your preffered hidden location--you'll need to input the safe code by turning thr key entering the first number turn off turn on again for second number off again then for the same for remaining numbers depending on what your code is buddy

Cheers for the link, i tried to call him but no answer.

an auto electrician called me back earlier and said he would charge around £70 to chop the immobilzer out. Does this sound like a fair price?

Thanks

could anyone recommend me an auto electrician in the horley/redhill/crawley area? or an alarm specialist that may be able to salvage the immobilizer?

thanks

the alarm comes with a push to make overide for the immobilizer buddy it'll be hidden around the drivers area and the code will be written in your manual by the installer--its there for this exact reason i.e its a manual override for the immobilizer nearly all toad kits come with it

sometimes it's just a flick switch hidden in my golf it was in the drivers footwell it didn't look like it was to do with an alarm it looked like a switch out of a 1970's car! It may also be at the top or in the back of your glovebox.

Hope that helps.

Right ok i thought i had managed to solve the problem, i found the four digit pin that is meant to disarm the alarm, entered it in and it made a long beep as if it had worked but then i just get a constant beeping when i have the keys in the ignition and the led is still orange? helppppppppppp lol.

when you guys are talking about a switch is it a case of just flicking it over and then it will work or do i need to do something after that?

thanks again

haha cheers mate! yeah i tried starting it straight away one time and then the next time i tried waiting to see if the on off beeping would stop but it didnt and the car still wouldnt start! grrr

just throwing a curve ball out there but it couldn't be the starter motor could it? or do you think the orange/red light and beeping confirm that it is the immobilizer?

cheers

i think if you can override the immobilizer then it may be the main culprit does the car make any noise whatsoever when attepmting to turn over i.e can you here the fuel pump starting to work or the car attempting to start i.e general starter noise-if not what you mates battery in if he has an EP and give that a go

Well i done the 4 digit code thing and as i was doing it at various stages it would start to make a whirring noise momentarily, when i try and start the car it sounds as if the batt is completely dead and just makes the click noise, but this is also the sound that the car makes if the imob is on. I know the batt still had juice in it the other day so it should be the imob being the problem.

I went back to my car today as an auto electrician was meant to be cutting the imob out for me at 6.30. waited there untill 7.15, no show and i only had a home number to call with no answer so i gave up and went home. soo annoyed as i thought i would be driving it again tonight!

got to find another auto electrician who isnt going to charge me the world and who is actually going to turn up!

grrr rant over lol.

get a set of jump leads whcked onto it mate to rule that out--at the very least you'll know that it wasn't the battery the whole time-i think it could be a possibility if there is only a slight click then it may not be sparking just--throw the leads on anyway mate and let it have a bit of a charge
