Toyota LSD into non-LSD gearbox?

Can the LSD mechanism from a factory LSD ep82 gearbox be fitted into a non-LSD ep82 gearbox? I thought about replacing the complete gearbox altogether but i have heard that the mountings are not the same for a factory LSD g/box and g/box without LSD. How true is this? and what is the difference between the factory LSD compared to other aftermarket LD like the TRD's & Quaiffe's?

No it cant !! The Factory LSD gearbox is different plus the shaft on the driver side is shorter. Much more of a hassle than getting a Cusco, TRD LSD.

which means not advisable or more like not possible. sad though as i could get that LSD mechanism reasonably cheap. thought of doing the LSD for a friend as a favor but looks like i hvta say "SORRY MATE !!" lol.
