wallice glanza, mine is exactly like that.. I`ll get pictures whenever i can.
I reckon it was my fault as i put on aftermarket skirts without sealing up the holes on the outside. Plus a leaking sunroof didnt help.

Seems to be quite the Achilles heel of the EP. Rust could actually be a serious threat after all, I'd sort of dismissed it as most of mine have been solid and clean underneath.

I've saved the pics of the other side for tonight (best to ease you all in slowly lol). After a few discussions today in work I'm assured it's not the complete write off that I had feared but it'll all depend on what costs are involved to get her sorted. Just for reference the sills look to be £70 plus vat from Toyota although if the quarterpanel is needed you can add £234 plus vat and a whole lot of bodywork to the equation..

Feast your eyes on some rotten flesh:

I then stripped the loose metal away leaving only what appears to be (half) solid steel behind:

So that leaves the passenger side without a sill:

Hilariously when you put the sill trim back on the car is back to looking 100%. I think that's the only saving grace, that I can hide it and pretend everything is okay. Until I crash and it disintegrates around me..

jay i had a h reg that was very similar to that, i beleive they rot from inside out so all you people saying you have cleaned and painted the outsides it not really going to save you.

Yes Lawrence is right, this is the result of the sill corroding from the inside out so you need to pump any protective wax into the sills to have an effect.

Just on that subject, what have people been using and how was the application and results?

Waxoyl was alwyas my stuff of choice but there loads to choose from. Heated the tims up and put them through my compressor, easy peasiy :haha:

Another troublesome ares to watch are beneath the arch trimmings. Both my rear arches were gubbed and the fronts were going in the same way.

May look pretty on the outside but when i see people saying there is 100% NO rust, i just laugh

i waxoiled my ep85 sills, even though it has no sill trims. just washed the inside of the sills with water in the summer. left it for a good long while to dry out ( a few weeks) then waxoiled the inside of the sill as best i could on a nice warm day.

do need to check the ep82's though, but there is no creeping rust from behind the sill so should be as bad as jays at least ;)

how do you get those sill trims off? is it just a case of undoing some screws and it all comes off or are there ay hidden clips?

Easy to get them off Dunc.
All screws as you say, but there is a clip holding the front half on at the wing and the rear half has 2 clips on the rear qtr panel.

I've got to take the trims off again on Monday as there's a fella coming to assess the damage. I'll grab a few pics for you Duncan.

Yep, join the club lmao.

Both sides of the floor were rotten out, both sills rotten out!

All repaired now, saved from the scrappy. Thanks to my Dad. He managed to just fabricate the sill himself.

Used half a tin of WaxOyl and a compressor to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Although it would appear that both sills have seen repair work before. And it would look like they rotted from outside in. The skits rubbed the paint away unfortunately.
