WEPR Manifold Query

Hi guys

I've just got my WEPR manifold from the group buy delivered, and although it looks pretty awesome, great welds, etc! i've got a bit of a concern regarding parts of it.

Apologees for my crap description, but basically between the long flat bit which bolts onto to the car, and the pipes which are welded to it, there's a gap. The weld covers this up on the outside, but on the inside, I was wondering are gasses going to get trapped here, and will there be heat build up?

One of them is completely flush and looks fine, two of them are flush on one side with a gap on the other, and the fourth there's a gap all round. If they were all the same i would assume it was designed that way, but it's the fact they all differ makes me wonder if this is an error in the build.

Pics attached - the bronze / reflective bit in the picture is where the gap is. It's probably about 2mm wide. You can also see from the left pipe there's a gap, and the one next to it there isn't one.

Please help!

Cheers

Ok guys will do, thanks. I thought with over 30 of these been delivered someone would know if there's looked the same or had any issues with them :)

Really cant see an issue there.

I can understand the worry though.

But as said, contact Sacha, he is more than willing to help out.

my one was the same wouldn't think it would be to much of a issue,if ye were that conercened get somebody to weld inside and use a dremel to smooth it all out...

cant imagine it effecting it at all , otherwise people running waste gates would be effected when not waste gate not open (if that makes sense:haha:)

Hmm.

Having you mentioned that i've taken a look at mine and almost ever runner has a gap in it between the trumpet and block. Might be part of the design where it doesn't affect it. Perhaps sacha will clear this up.

What i dont understand, is why he doesnt weld these up, as its just the join where the pipe meets the flange, so wouldnt be possible to get 100% straight.

He welds round the inside of the turbo side of the manifold, i dont see why it isnt done on the head side to be honest!

I got a guy from work to weld around mine to smooth it out!

guys..
every ct9 manifold of our's will have this. its not going to cause an issue and will not affect flow. just thought i'd clear this up before there's mass panic. bolt on and enjoy lads...

there you have it. not a problem. good cuz i have those gaps too. If you think that those gaps are a restriction then maybe you should look at the stock mani #3 runner. i cant even squeze my pinky past it.

these manis are top notch

the "marginal gap" will not cause any significant issues...if any of you guys are worried about it....then you are free to take it to your local welders, get it filled and then grind/polish it back flush to your likings...it should not be too costly anyways....if you do get it welded, you may need to check it back for straightness when done, as the heat may cause a little warpage, depending

but i'd leave it as it is--personally...if i was a professional racer/tracker chasing ever last bhp, then i may consider doing it

just put on the mani and enjoy what it has to offer -IMO:cool:
