who runs aftermarket ecu's?

surely the fuel pump shouldnt affect anything? the fuelling is regulated to a set amount so a new pump wont alter it unless the one you remove is getting tired and cant even maintain the pressure it needs.

The fuel pump was from a supra. Its got a very high flow rating. The Blitz already ran very rich with the stock fuel pump, in the 10.5:1 range. After changing to the Supra pump the a/f went to 8.1:1. Since the Access already ran the injectors at a very high duty cycle (82%) the added fuel was making the mixture too rich and it couldn't adjust.

as dave said, the stock chip is removed and replaced with a connector which is then linked to the new daughter board. this houses a new reprogrammed chip with other electronics.

If you can obtain all the components on the daughter board then you shouldn't have much problem in copying one.

agreed, its not that hard to do, but you would need the facilities to make a circuit board and reprogram chips. i know of a lad who could do it for me, but its a little risky if something fucks up. could make alot of money, but also you could loose alot if you mess the original up!

no, i have a different dial face. even with the stock ecu it went passed the 115mph on the dail so its probably miles out anyway

mine reached 135,, totally standard i think! lol
its the lightweightversion though. mite have something to do with it?
(sorry off topic bu was just wondering,,)
i dnt no

i dunno how good my dodgy dial face is though, think it reads too fast, especially up the top end, so 115mph on the clock is more like 105mph, not sure though

I use megasquirt, we use it alot here in denmark.
Very easy to install, and you can buy it premapped, so only need to fine tune it..

Jam ecu makes a nice difference to the fuel bills if you can keep the lead out of your foot for a while:rockon:. Ive mine over a year and its paid for itself when im commuting to work and back

i agree totally........like hardcoreep......i plan to add an emanage ultimate to my JAM ecu when i do some upgrades later.........and here's the low down on the JAM ecu (note tuning may be specific to a particular applications):

JAM RACING Super Computer (JAM Original ECU)

Characteristics:

1) JAM original computer deactivates the boost to forcibly go into “Low” mode when using “Hi” mode with 1st gear; thus, you are sure to feel the effect on replacing the ECU.

2) All speed/rev/boost limiter controls have been changed and deactivated.

3) If your vehicle already has FCC (boost limiter control), Air Flow Controller, or any kind of limiter controller that interrupts computer circuit must be removed when replacing with JAM original ECU. The use of these limiter controls with JAM original ECU may lead to engine breakdown.

4) When using with reinforced actuator, a sharper responsiveness can be obtained.

5) The JAM original ECU has been mapped so that to be most suitable when ignition timing and fuel are combined with a reinforced actuator. Therefore, the fuel used must be of hi-octane fuel (higher than 96 octane).

6) Higher heat-rating spark plugs must be used to avoid the melting firing-end under increased boost. (JAM recommends NGK spark plug No. 7 or No. 8 heat rating or equivalent ones.)

7) It is also highly recommended to replace the fuel filter as clogged fuel filter will cause a thin fuel mixture and, in worst case, it will lead to the engine to blow up.

8) JAM recommends the fuel filter be changed every 20,000km.

9) JAM recommends not to use more than 1.0 bar boost to avoid breaking connecting rod.

10) The location of intercooler (whether top-mount or front mount) is not of important matter when using JAM original ECU.

Cant understand why people dont use megasquirt, then you get all the fun stuff, like, NOS control, shiftlight, flatshift, antilag, well you name it, and megasquirt got it...

Not many people with experience of it over here.

seems like megasqurt is getting pretty popular......as it appears to be good for its price and has the flexibility of the owner's needs in mind...a lot more tuners are starting to use it now .....and general response is that is GOOD

Well it is very easy, you can buy it like plug and play, every tuner knows how to fine tune a preinstalled map..
Only need to modifi distrubinator, takes about 15min, and is VERY easy...

think i saw this ....something about taking out some teeth from the distributor??

what did you pay for it,or hat are they jam ecu's worth.
i didnt know mine had one till 2 days ago,had the car 3 weeks.

JAM ecus...and all aftermarket ecus.....sell for around GBP300- gbp500 depending on demand at the time and if u can find a deal

i've been happy with it since i got it......saves me on fuel.....so kinds of pays for itself---this is under normal driving conditions......if your foot is heavy, then fuel goes as normal:)

but i think they are overpriced when people want to sell them in excess of gbp400..........an emanage ultimate can be had for close to that........and offers adjustability:)........however, as siad before...my jam has been a joy so far:rockon:
