- 5e rods…5efhe preferred for bigger boost,,,,,,,,5efe rods can be used if u don’t plan to over do it

What sort of boost can the "5EFE" rods handle. I have a 5efe paseo and a 4efte engine with crank damage. I am goin to turbo my 5efe with minimal changes

the stock 5efe has been known to take 10psi-12psi of boost when well tuned....and should be reliable for 8psi-10psi...........by the way, this is with a decent sized turbo set up

the rods are not as strong as the 5efhe rods....so a lot of people dont push it with this particular engine

id just stick with the 5e one

went i rehole my 4EFTE becaz i wanted to use back my clutch and it hard to find standard flywheel in barbados and lightweight flywheel for 5E cost an arm and leg in barbados. but i c any problem reholing it, i have using my fa last 2 year now.

yeah,,,we do it over here all the time (caribbean)....but some of the other guys around the world dont like the idea of redrilling or even lightening the stock 4efte flywheel

so to each their own.....cant fault anyone which ever way they choose:)

yeah...from my investigations...it seem like some later version 5efe (i think the one with the equal length intake manifold)...did come with 5efhe rods.....but i will clarify that once i get the time

That maybe why Harvey was confused about the fhe rods i sold to him, he said they where the same as his paseo which was only a 5efe!

does anyone know can you tell the diffrence between 5efe rods and 5efhe rods just by lookin at them or does anyone have pictures of both???

no....not enough "meat" on the cylinder walls to do that

some have over bored by 1mm...which is about 1365cc at best (give or take a little)

even a 5e bored by 1mm ends up being only 1538cc---up from 1497cc

Where did you here this gorgan? I have a 96 paseo and a 99 paseo both uk 5efe's could I have fat rods in either of those or is there anyway to check without removing sump?

The rods are the only thing holding me back at the minute.

u would have to check ....so u would need to remove the sump to be sure

but over here it has happened a few times........so u may be in luck
