Whose done a 5E Conversion?

lads just thinking of the sumps and oil pickups on 4e and 5e. i read you have to use 4e pickup with 4e sump but 5e and 4e sump looks same from link on here(apart from bafle) so can i use 5e oil pickup with 4e sump?

if u use 4efte sump, u HAVE to use 4efte oil pick up......

if u use 5e sump, u HAVE to use 5e oil pick up

the two cannot be mixed matched, as the 5e sump is deeper from my memory.....i would have to check it to make sure:)

the 4efte sump is baffled, which makes a good difference, especially when cornering/tracking........plus people like the 4efte sump as it already has a turbo oil return hole in it:)

yeah the 5e sump i lot deeper and is baffled too, but yeah it makes sense that if u use a 4e sump use te 4e dipstick tube and if u use the5e sump use the 5e dipstick

i know several people who have ran a LC 5efte (using 4efte pistons in a 5e), 4efte injectors with a ct9 turbo on the 4efte ecu without issues for a LONG TIME .....boosting up to 10psi daily on the oem TMIC

i assume more boost could be run,,,,but the ct9 is a crappy turbo for the 5e, so makes little sense turning up the boost any higher

and if u feel cautious about fuel, just throw in a bigger fuel pump or use soem 315cc injectors

Thank-you, I plan to fully forge the 5e when it arrives so just wanted to make sure i can run the engine in on standard setup then drive to the tuners and let them fit my turbo and ems.

have all the parts but no money or time to put all together, maybe over christmas holiday it will get done, dont know about the mapping yet long way till that i'd say

if u used the 4efte sump...i am pretty sure u also used the 4efte oil pick up......as i dont think the 5e one fits up with the 4efte sump----the 5e one looks longer than the 4e one:)

but again i can surely compare the two for u over the weekend

i can also compare the dipstick......but somehow i dont think they were different from my MEMORY....i expected the 5e one to be longer slightly, but i cant recall any difference -----AGAIN, i need to check these things over the w/end to verify/confirm---maybe JAY can compare part numbers for us

but take a look at these two pages in the mean time,,,,i know hardcoreep to be VERY reliable also

Is there a difference with the 4efte and 5efe valve cover?

yes....the 4efte "breather" is located between spark plugs holes 1 and 2 (as fur stated) ..........while on the 5e its located to the right hand side at the back of the valve cover (distributor side)

the PCVs are located the same place on both valve covers

so, it wouldn't work for a 4efte/5efte? I was thinking about getting a 5efe valve cover to paint or powdercoat (should be getting a 5efe engine soonish)

not that it won't work
but the port is smaller on the 5e valve cover and also not located as central
that being the case it won't release as much crankcase pressure, u can also consider buying a crankcase evacuation kit and keeping the 5e valve cover

the 5e valve cover can/could work ,,,and a few of the US guys use it in thier 5efte/5efthe set ups without issues

that being said, fur has a point about the size and evacuation of pressure also, which u may want to consider

its really up to you here....but the evidence shows both the 4efte and 5efe/5efhe valve covers do the job

5e

you only need the 5e block and crank im currently in the middle of it, fly wheels gets the stud pattern changed and since that happens started motor is not needed,

if your doing a 5e conversion whilst the engine is out get it forged like me since your doing a 5e your obv going serious power, that way the company will put the perfect pistons in it for you,

dave at tm-developments will give you full details on engine builds.

if anyone has any question that they want to ask me....feel free to PM or post it here

i dont have all the answers, but i'll try to help if i can:cool:
