hey lads i cant find a gcc so im going to try install a safc onto it instead what do u think ???

so where in the line does the safc go in

ECU to SAFC to PFC FCON to ENGINE LOOM

or is it ECU to PFC FCON to SAFC to ENGINE LOOM

and has any1 a wiring diagram for this i searched the google for ages for this but no joy

thanks anyways lads cheers 5e colin

Yes you can I have read posts saying the Apexi safc even came with instructions how to do this.
I have also read this done with blus screen safc1 but i am going to try safc2 this way as it handles larger injectors. When done the Safc wiring didn't change it was as if the fcon wasn't there except the map signal was spliced *after* the FCONS out put to take advantage of the Fcons larger map sensor.
With the safc 2 I read some people just set the safc in the high map areas above open loop rpm
( I guess assuming fcd is handling mid and low map fuelling ? )

I think it needs to be thought through for your setup and how far you want to go. The principle to bear in mind is the fcon is mapping 3d you want to keep that as much as posible by changing things post fcon where that suits.

Heres the safc link comments with the gcc wiring.

The link basically confirms safc setup. I think the mix cont. ( controller ) refers to a safc. Two wiring options are shown one with GCC one without. The wires shown colours blue , green and yellow are the wires that go to the hks map sensor ( you can see these colour wires shown in the old fcon instal manual as well )
I guess we have ecu>fcon>safc>engine but the safc intercepts or replaces the gcc . Not sure best way to add in fcd if needed probably been covered in other posts.

Well, I have one and and if i can get my injectors to run smoothly without the fcon I will sell and may sell it anyway but not in a position to say yet . In the mean time if I see one down here I will let you know.

o great give me first dibs if u do sell cheers

here i made my own pinout for the pfc fcon where the gcc connects to can u please confirm if my gcc wires are in the right pinout
it taken me 9 months to find the pinout for the ep/pfc

i still dont know what the 2 empty slots are for do u ??????????????????????????

Ok I have done a reconciliation below between the EP82 colours and EP91 colours.
the old HKS manuals tend to have ep82 colours shown. Also added the colours for gcc with and without safc as per above post.
I think you might find the other slots relate to the injector Duty cycle monitor that came with the fcon but not sure 20 and 21 are shown below. .

EP82___EP91 harness colours at pfc fcon connector, GCC harness extra wire colours added in to the pfc fcon connector

1 brown,___ep91 brown

2 blue ,___ep91blue -white ,SAFC with GCC parallel green

3 GCC yellow

4 blue,__ep91red

5 yellow,__ep91orange and SAFC no gcc in parallel yellow,SAFC with GCC in parallel yellow

6 yellow-black,___ep91white

7white-black,___ep91blue

8 GCC white

9 blue black,___ep91black white,___GCC Black

10 grey,___ep91green,___GCC red

11 -

12 Blank ___ or SAFC no gcc green

13 blue - white,___ep91yellow white

14 green,___ep91Lilac

15 -

16 -

17 grey white,___ep91 green white

18 white,___ep91brown black

19 GCC green,___or SAFC no gcc blue

20 grey loop,___ep91 green loop

21 blue black loop,___ ep91black- white loop

EXTRA connector - NO pin available so SAFC with GCC safc blue wire soldered into GCC mother board

No problem I been researching pfc fcon recently and also have some good info on the difference pfc fcon map sensor makes which I will post when I get some tiime.

As far as I can tell from my research if you run with safc instead of an FCD you would have a base for safc at -18% 4.1v for a 4.15 volt fuel cut this should be close to the HKS FCD setting 7 ( ignoring wiring resistance differences and assuming fcon map )

Ok I said I had some fcon map info here's the link. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=106549&hl=%2Bfcon+%2Bmap+%2Bsensor

This shows a graph logging 3bar map vs pfc fcon map sensor.
If you look you can see the 3bar map comes in 0.0044sec earlier than the fcon but the pfc fcon is keeping much higher vaccum in other words it not adding fuel at idle etc. I guess this is why it is capable of economy, good injector control as well as big boost. It seems to max at 19.2 psi ( 13.5 kgf/ccm sqd. ) also worthy of note is the gradient is steeper which could account for the fcon performance. I certainly found this interesting info too good not to share.

thats good to my ears so when going bigger turbo and 380cc injectors i can pus it eventually to 18/19 psi ??? 1s setup

I look at it this way the Japaneses use fcon with 550CC inj @43.5psi that is 477.37cc @32.77psi stock base pressure. So either the fcon controls 477.37cc or 477.37 - 12% gcc with a GCC = 420.08 cc
. I am not sure how the impedance gets adjusted as the hks 550cc are low impedance but with regards to lag times the 550cc hks match the stock injectors perfectly so cold start and temperature corrections etc should be handled well.

Re injector size for boost that depends on the actual injector flow rate at stock pressure and are you 5e I am 4e so not so sure of the specific fuel consumption of the 5e ?

Well calculators say for a 4e 0degC 63eff compressor 60 eff intercooler 6800rpm 90% ve 11.3 afr at 19psi 380cc are at 80%DC and around 232HP with a turbo air flow of of 22.73 lb/min hope that helps.

hey guys i can get hold off an old apexi super afc that looks like a gcc controller same type off turn switches for the rpm

now my question can i wire that to the pfc fcon ??????
