Worst ways you spent your money on your car

Back in the day when you were just starting out what were the mistakes you made? Did you buy gadgets and other crap that when you look back on them now were complete nonsense? Did you buy the wrong car entirely? How about that shopping list of stickers you put on the side that you photoshop out of your old car photos now? :p

I remember getting my Glanza and within a couple of days some lad I didn't know had convinced me to buy a cone air filter and rip out the airbox. The airfilter looked like something out of a toy shop and was simply stupid. Ah and then there was the "G-Meter" .... this list could go on for a while.

Come on confess your sins to Fr D!

I sold my first car a toyota starlet 92 1l van for a 92 opel corsa ( Sr Nova) only had it like 3 weeks driving on the road after rebuilding it and Dad putting a reconditioned 1. 3 L engine in it. Baught my first ever turboed starlet after that and ever looked back. But shouldn't have sold the 1l starlet great car but dame slow

Recently I bought the 2 limited edition TONE x HKS 10mm ratchet spanner sets, put them straight into the drawer never to be used or opened, 80 quid well spent :)

Trying to think about more stuff...
How about a very very cheap oil pressure gauge that I mounted in a spare slot in an A pillar gauge holder anddddddd never actually got around to connecting to anything...

Remember buying some earthing kit thing that had wires running all over the engine bay...... Dont even know what ever happened to that.

D2 coilovers.
I got a set through the forum group buy years ago when I had my first GT advance.
I was mega happy to get them, as the car looked soo much better on the deck and was hoping to transform the handling into an f1 car lol. I had them setup at a local suspension specialist, but I hated them.
Even on their softest setting, they were rock solid and they used to pull my fillings out each time I went over a bump.
Eventually made me lose interest in the car and I sold it and bought an ek9.
Was lucky enough to get given a GT some years later though, so was a massive learning curve on suspension setups, spring rates etc.

Would you buy a set off coilovers again for the gt are just lowering springs?

Sure. I bought a set of Teins for my current GT, which were awesome and I now have a set of Meister R coilovers.... love them. Apparently they were developed more for UK roads. Either way they ride a lot more smoother and soak up the bumps much better than the d2s.

I did the whole updated springs and shocks combo previously, but much preferred the ride and adjustability of coilovers.

Sounds pretty rough though, At least the roads here a pretty neat so should be survivable.

Not good mate really bad people sometimes still try to get money for something broken beyond repair.
Yup that's true reversed shocks which makes the adjustment on the bottom side of the coilover. Have been reading these should have been the one to go for with ride comfort back when MeisterR didn't exist.
