Hi;

i've got 15" Enkei alloys on my car EP91 with Yokohama Parada 195/50/15 spec 2 tyres

now, i have had the car long so when i first drove it i though i had a noisy wheel bearing as the car makes a droning noise when driven

had the MOT today and while it was there i done my best to check the bearings and so did the MOT tester and the bearings are all OK

so i think its just the tyres that make the noise, but does anyone else notice this with these tyres?

what kind of noise is it? does it get faster and faster as the speed changes?

bearings can still get messed up but wont show any play in, my bearing has gone but stil passed m.o.t

i'm changing it tmrw, i cant describe the noise but you could say when a train sets of the noise it makes when it gets faster and faster? lol

its a deep drone type noise; hard to explain really; my first thought was wheel bearing but i'm not so certain now

i'll investigate a bit more today

Take the hub off yourself, but take it to a garage to push out the old, push in the new. Won't take ya long to get the hub off mate. A deep whirring noise that increase as you accelerate is defo a wheel bearing!

Ive got a very similar problem with my ep82, only started making the noise when i put the 15s+paradas on. Maybe it is a bearing on mine too then

update:

i done the bearing tonight; not too bad a job; but the bearings are a pain to get out; its a big bearing!

at first it wouldnt come out at all so i heated it up using welding equipment!, put it under the 20 tonne bearing press and it came out.

so cowboys must have been at it before me as the hub nut was wound on so tight a rattle gun wouldnt undo it, i think they must have heard the bearing making a noise and wound up the hub - idiots! it would make a fart of difference!

it think the bearing must have worn quicker than normal as the caliper slider were seized! - so i sorted that while i was there :)

also i recommend anyone to get a OE bearing, i bought mine from TM-Devlopments and the fit of one of the lips was rubbish, i had to trim it down, you wouldnt get this problem with OE parts

incidentally; i think these are still noisy road tyres though

Thanks
