TGTT ... Loss of interest?

I am and always will be a loyal TGTT user and it makes me rather sad that there are fewer and fewer of us every year. Just take the forum for instance ... usually we'd all be ordered our copies of the annual TGTT calender by now with 12 hand picked best starlets as voted for by us... this doesnt seem to be happening this year :( Also on the main portal page nothing seems to be gettin updated for example the thread of the month, etc (last update being Nov 2010)

Is it safe to say that, sadly, the once busy forum and scene of starlets its slowly burning out ? :(

I dont think its burning out, but you have to consider that there will be peaks and troughs for any membership. I dont know about the calendars, maybe they were not profitable and in this climate every pound is a prisoner so if its not good business its not going to happen.

Fairplay about the calenders ha no biggy just IMO the starlet scene has died down alot in the past couple of years suppose it could be due to loads of factors ie insurance and the cars (specially ep82) are getting on abit and fewer and fewer are on the market. Wasnt having a go or meaning to cause any offence to the admin that run TGTT so well!!
Just a morning thought, that I wanted to share with the community of TGTT

All of the Irish lads are over on toc irl

most of the irish lads still come on just dont post as much, but when i first joined this site it was crazy all the new starlets put up and the parts being sold and bought aswell as all the post and so on so to me it has really died, its not the time of year either if your a member your a member car site are not seasonal lol

Also seems to be alot less glanza's/gt's owned by enthusiasts who look after them. An awful lot of them have been run ragged and are balls of scrap tbh.
Most of them wouldn't have the literacy or intelligence to be on here so we're a dying breed :p

x2. The die hards just cant be arsed coming on and answering the same questions about fuel cut or cats @ MOT's lol.
There old cars now, the young team buy them and knock fuck out them.Someone said before there exactly like R5 turbo's, a hidden gem then everyone found them and spoiled it...then a few years passed and they became popular again from a enthusiast side.

Exactly. And to find a good one now you might aswel be pissing against the wind.
I picked up one 3 years ago last month from the site with 90,000kms and it was as MINT!! Nothin needed changing from the moment I got it bar a regular oil change the usual service etc. Had it for two years only trouble I got was from the battery. Which was easily solved.

Can't say the same these days a good one is extremely hard to find. Younger lads get them and don't know how to mind 'em ha..

Shame really.

thats a bit harsh now saying young lads dont look after them i have one and am changing the engine on it next week and will be looking after it ie getting clean seats ect ect also my bro imported one from jap and did a few small mods nothing major but it was prob the cleaniest one ever and he was a young lad

x2 on the young lads, im 20 had glanzas since 18 but i look after my car well and service it when its due unlike some people i know in my area lol, alot may be not as much money being made and cars being broke for parts to make as much back on them

True the forums are getting quieter as time moves on but it just makes me appreciate the effort everyone puts in with offering advice and input on threads. I usually find that any questions are answered quite quickly and correctly on here nowadays. There was a time when we'd have 20 posts of idle crap before someone got a proper answer.

Quality not quantity I reckon.

its just an idea but it would be cool if events were organised like even an agm every year everybody could put away a small bit of money and try and get a lot of people to attend even trackdays im on the irish subaru drivers club site there annual trackday costs club members 100 to 150 euro thats for the whole mondello track and it is some day out with all the tracks in england surely there must be other places that on offer in and around that price even some charity stuff like a charity drive it will help rasie money for whatever it is and plus law will see that most of us are respectable people it would give the forum a better name ya never know insurance companys might even get better rates for people in the club... rite thats my 2 cents

I dont post much any more due to work and general life changes like family etc in the last 8 years, but rest assued there still going to be alot of long term members that will never forget the times before starlets got into the wrong hands.

the jap scene has died down alot in the last 5 or so years. general car meets, cruises etc have all but dried up. it is true that the time of year isnt great either.
