I had my car on the rollers yesterday to set up the fuelling and i raised the boost to 0.8 bar, i took her out for a drive tonight with some mates and when i boost from 2000rpm - 5000rpm it boosts as normall at 0.8 but after 5000 rpm its goes crazy and boost shoots up to 1 bar and feels like a second wind.. Does anyone know what this could be?

Are you standard CT9.... Sounds like boost creep due to the small size of the ct9 waste gate. A quick port will sort that out.

could still be boost creep it not only the wastegate that causes it filter relocation kit will smooth air intake compared to the bumpy oem one etc

How can i stop this then if the wastegate is already ported? I have heard about people putting tape round the bottom half of the filter to restrict it?

yea i did that at one point didnt solve the problem well i think it should hav coz my adjustable actuator turned out to be leaking so it wasnt opening wastegate hav u got fcd fittted? if not wind down the boost on your actuator to get rid of the problem completely u can a tempt to port the wastegate abit more yourself or goin external wastegate which means new manifold and welding your wastegate on the turbo shut or jus go bigger turbo and external setup the popular one of choice is tdo4 and there is quite a few kits for sale on here depends what your fund are like and how long u want to stay with this turbo on the plus there is always a newby lookin to go from standard to hybrid so u shouldnt hav much problem selling your kit on to fund td04

all in all external wastegates are the way forward internals are for standards

Yeah i have got a fcd fitted aswell, hopefully i will be going forged and td05 in a few months but still wanna stop the boost creep untill then to be honest

u can only try to make the port bigger or try wrapping the end of your air filter in electrical tape was tryin to get the pic of mine when i did it up to show u but photobucket aint loading

Will try wrapping the filter as i dont really wanna take the turbo and all that off again, only just put it all back on lol will a boost controller help at all as im only adjust boost via the actuator

i think if u use an electric boost controller yes a manual one no, i cant even find my thread on here coz i got some really good answers on it, if you fit and electric boost controller u will need to turn the boost down on your actuator and then turn it up on the boost controller and u can adjust the gain what does it boost at on motorway if u doin seventy and then drop a gear and floor it?

also what position is your airfilter in does it come off turbo on a bend and sit straight forward or is there another 90 degree bend so it sits sideways infront of rad?

If i drop it down a gear it will boost at 0.8-0.9 then as soon as i hit around 5000rpm it boosts even more.. When its raining at it hits 5000rpm in 4th gear it even spins up

could be actuator how old is it coz mine did this chillin in fifth and just floor it till revs go up i got like 1.2 bar then fuel cut coz my fcd was only set to a bar and my turbo timer beeped at me lol

Actuator is same age as turbo so about 6months old and has only been set at 0.6 bar untill yesterday when i upd it. I have a spare hks actuator and turbo dynamics one aswell somewhere, if the actuator was poo wouldnt the boost be shit at lower rpm aswell?

Do you have a plug and play ecu fitted? Like a Jam, Mines or Blitz unit? These ecus add additional timing at 5000rpm to counter the normal boost drop off of the smaller ct9 and hybrids. The feeling when this happens is similar to a second turbo kicking in.

To be honest i have not even checked to see if i have a plug and play ecu, it does feel like a second turbo kicking in to be honest but would that raise the boost levels?

Right i just ripped the ecu out and doesnt say jam or mines or anything on it at all so cant be a plug and play unit

Just a quick question for every1, when my car was on the rollers the rrfpr was fitted and adjusted accordingly, seems its running 4.2 bar on idle and rises when boost hits. Is this too high? Ever since the fuel pressure was set its eating petrol like no 2moro!! On the graph afr's were bang on all across the rev range so not running lean or anything. What else could lead towards it using more fuel?
