Dump Valve King Thread - A discussion

so if it air leaks on half boost/ just cruiseing.. this is bad? im useing my std bov and it does this :( .. i cant see a reason to upgrade unless this "air leaks" is a real problem?

fitting a dump valve

sorry about this i was just wondering how to fit a dump valve to the stock valve. Is the just the matter of plug and play or do i have to split pipes etc. Also does every gt turbo have a stock recirculating valve. Thanks liam

Hi Liam, every 4EFTE has a standard recirculating valve bolted onto the intake pipe (16V pipe). It's just a matter of plumbing the aftermarket item into the system in it's place.

You can either leave the recirc valve on the intake pipe or remove it and seal up the hole. If you leave the hole in the intake pipe unblocked then unfiltered air and possibly debris can enter your intake and hit the turbo blades.

Hope that helps,

Jay

I have a Blitz BOV dont know the exact model but would love to know, it makes quite a wierd noise, trying to think how to describe it.lol. It a high pitch noise that beats down if taht makes sense.lol. Here a pic of the engine bay maybe someone could tell me the model and try and describe the sound for me.haha.

My other Glanza has a dump valve aswell dont know the make but makes the usual dump noise.
Thanks Christy

Just got a SARD R2D2 BOV this week and should fit today, if I can be bothered, just out of hospital and face hurts like f**k.

On the standard setup you can hear the recirc on the glanza. If you rev it hard and have the stereo off and a quiet bit of road you can hear a little whoosh. I used to notice it more on my last glanza (lightweight version, less soundproofing) that only ran on high mode turbo.

I'll let you know what I think once fitted as have never ran with a BOV before and my setup on the glanza is standard, apart from the suspension setup ;)

I must say that the SARD kit looks good as it comes with the full fitting kit specifically for the car, and does not have to be adapted or modified to fit.

Cheers
Stu

this is the bov i have fitted and it is very loud but me luvs it:cool:

I have the new hks and like it alot. it sounds better the more you boost it (probably obvious), if your driving in low and barely touching the accelerator it makes a very quiet almost pathetic little noise but if you put your foot down you get the nice chirp noise which i dont ever think ill get bored of. you can mess about with the sound 2 depending how fast you lift off the accelarator takes a bita practise but if you lift of nice an easy you get a longer lasting high pitch tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiish which sounds good imo.

If you vent to atmosphere wont it confuse the airflow signal going to the ecu?
No it wont as the 4E does not have a airflow meter mate, thats more of a problem on the newer age of engines like the evo engines etc.

And the SSQV performs the best

Open on Idle can be a problem as mine sometimes get stuck open if I've been in crawling, stop, starting in ques of traffic. Takes a while to close back up and work properly again.

Other than that annoyance I like the sound of the Baileys ones, can amuse you when your having a boring drive.

so if you were to run without a bov, oem or not, what do you do with pipe that comes from the rocker cover onto the bov? just block it off? what is that pipe needed for anyways? i know the small 1 that comes from the intake mani is toopen the valve when it gets vacumm (correct?)

dont block the pipe coming out of the rocker cover.
its a breather for the engine.
it releases blow by gas.

you can link it up to an oil catch can or else put a breather filter on the end of it

I thought that was what the other pipe was for? the one thats plummed straight into the intaks mani? so there 2 pcv hoses on them ?

the one that goes into the part on the oem dump valve is a breather.
the other is the pcv valve..

ive got the two of them plumbed into an oil cactch can but be sure not to just block them off

ive seen copies of the hks dumpvalves for sale for 120 euro.

are these the same as the hks ones as in performance and noise?
maybe there all made in the one factory with different labels put on them - like alot of things these days!

ok kewl, thanks mate , is it worth losing the oem bov or just really down to preferance? guess it will lose the woosh sound or still have it due to compressor flutter?

after i took off my oem dump valve and repaced it with my new one i found it a little better to gain boost after changing gear. - less lag..

can someone clarify wat pipes to block off and wat ones to let breathe wen removing the oem dumpvalve? i want to run without one at all, as others might after readin this thread, and im a little confused!!

the one goin to the rocker cover i no to put a breather on, wat about the other 2? one is a vacuum pipe i believe, my boost gauge is t'd of it, wat do i do with it? leave it connected to the oem? just put a breather on the other 2??

any help appreciated!! cheers!!
