i had mine re shimmed by an engineering company when they skimmed the head. And ive double checked all the valve clearances. Not sure what to do next. But like you said it runs absolutely spot on it just makes this noise.

the blue smoke is my turbo which has done less than 1000 kms :@ i was driving the car today and i dont actually think the noise has gone. i heard it all today. im like you and im certain its not bottom end. i get the slap when i start it from cold but this noise is not the same, its top end...

so what oil would you suggest puting in?

nope i use what weve got a work 205 litre drum of 10 40 semi from vw really good oil. its what ive used since ive had the car and i keep it changed every 1000 miles
