the other thing im confused about is the car drives great with the tps unplugged. so what is the real purpose of the tps other than just making the car burn less gas at idle? i can compensate for that with the AFC settings

Why do you think so? wouldn't switching the wires around in the TPS connector achieve the right results?

if your car has Antilock brakes ABS its gonna be 23/30 if you dont have ABS you should have the standard 23/23

the black seal above the O ring looks like it. its hard to judge the size from the pic, but that seal sure does look like it.
