Are you talking from experience? Your better off not not making assumptions if you dont have any experience with the conversion. If you do then i apologize.

Far from bias as its just a car, i dont care any more about sticking up for cars etc, but i can tell you its WELL worth the money when set up properly. The delivery of the power is actually outstanding. Something ive never felt before and ive been in some powerful cars. And im talking about a stock engine on stock turbo running just over stock boost.

Understeer? Have you driven the car with this engine in it? Technically more weight up front will increase underteer yes but there are ways of countering understeer with the right suspension geometry set up. When i was running D2's on mine i can say it handled bloody well and that was just the beginning. Someone considering fuel costs wouldnt even be contemplating a highly modified starlet let alone once with a 2.0liter in it.

Some comments lack so much thought sometimes..

very very true, as i have experience a startlet with a 3s conversion and at stock it mad sick power at stock boost and stock internals

Pffftttt. Easiest conversion ever. A 3SGTE literally drops straight in to an EP82. Don't know why you are all kicking up such a fuss.

From 10 seconds reading, the engine mounts are all cunted, the blower smokes, it wants the head doing amongst other things!

That used to be such a sexy GT!

Destroyed by an optimistic prick!

Bit harsh wouldnt you say? Prick?! It was his car! Still is nice, just needs a few things done, that doesnt mean its a shit heap. Or he is a prick!

Few problems there i wouldnt really like but hay, thats obvious in the price. £4K for the potential, not bad. If i were to sell mine when i get the engine back up and running,(not that i will but.......) on stock internals bigger turbo you best have at least £8-9K for me to even conciser. Thats when everything is tip top and im happy with it on a fresh map. I think i would be right in assuming i have a far higher spec car then this one but still.

I think the price is reasonable.

the guy ruined that car with the engine conversion, that was a really nice example when neal had it and very rare in that colour, seems a shame to mess around with engine conversions on such an original example. best thing that could be done with that car is drop a 4e back in it in my opinion..

well after reading description.... it pritty much needs work in every area bar the bodywork lol. Engine needs some serious money spent. then the brakes then the mounts etc

I personaly dont think its worth the hassle for 4k really.....

well i think it is well worth the moneyit is not actually alot of work that needs doing.if you dont know your way around a car then yes it would cost alot of money to sort out, but then saying that fi you dont know your way round it stick to a 4e so you can buy stuff off the shelf for it.bargain for someone who knows what they are doing

x2.

In all seriousness, who advertises a car that's main selling point is that it has had an engine conversion, but doesn't post any engine bay pics?? NOOB

One of the engine mounts has failed. It just need bolting back to the font of the engine as this is not a weight supporting mount it just stops the enige from twisting under torque.

If it 'just needs bolting back to the front of the engine' why hasn't it been done? I fail to believe that any 'bolting' is going to rectify this problem.

The other mounts are just a poor design and could do with redesigning them but that the only major thing letting this awsome car down.

So one mount has already failed and it also doesn't sound like the remaining mounts are up to the job. Doesn't really fill you with confidence does it.

Also the way the brakes are plumbed from the master cylinder need changing as they had been plumded in single circuit so they are not as power full as the they could be and its a dangours method to plumb breaks. I did not know they were done like this and only found it out at a later date, but its not a hard fix but i wont let the car be driven away with it like that so i would perfer it to be trailored away.

Not only is there a possibility that the engine might fall out, there's also the possibility that you might not even be able to stop the car to retrieve it. On the plus side, I suppose having the gearbox and sump dragging along the road might provide the brakes with a little assistance.

the car started smoking from the breather pipe so i think the head gasket could be on its way out. The car had never over heated but i stop driving it when i noticed this

Sounds more like a damaged piston or two. Not to worry though, that can be fixed before refitting the engine that's just fallen out.

The turbo on the car is a ct20b, the uk celica spec turbo with the stonger steel shaft, the car did blow a very small amont of blue smoke under full boost so i think the seals could need refurbishing.

This could be a plus point. If the engine is fucked, the turbo might actually be OK!

IMO for a car that potentially has a fucked engine that's about to fall out and a braking system that on the face of it isn't up to the job, asking 4 grand is being extremely optimistic. The car may have already had an expensive engine conversion carried out, but the conversion sounds like a complete failure. It's going to take a lot of work to get this car to a reliable state where the owner can safely enjoy it and the work required in getting there isn't going to be a free and simple bit of tinkering on the driveway at home. Fare play to the person that takes this thing on, but if the £4,000 asking price is paid I'd say they've just been mugged.

very fair points, I should have read the advertisment properly. 4k with all those problems sounds stupid. Pretty much every main thing is wrong with it.
