hi

i ve just received a tial wastegate, and i have few questions before installing it.

there is a seat valve on the inlet, and if i put the gasket on it, its not sitting flat on the wastegate as the seat valve is a bit higher...
is this normal, and do i need to use the seat valve?
is the top port of the wastegate vented to atmosphere? i m not using boost controller.

Thanks

Yes you must use the valve seat otherwise the boost will be lazy to come in.

It is normal for it to sit proud of the wastegate.

Top port to atmosphere, side port to pressure source, normally the compressor housing of the turbo, that will then run off the spring pressure inside the wastegate.

the seat has to sit proud so that when its all bolted down it pushes the piston back slightly as the seat sits flush. this is to ensure its getting a good seat and at pressure.
