4AGE BlueTop in EP91

After adventures of putting turbo into 4EFE I've decided to swap into my starlet better engine as a base for further modifications.
Unfortunately 4EFTE is unreachable in my country (Poland) and costs of importing it from Japan or UK were very high. I've started looking for sth else.
First choice was 7AFE 1.8l from Carina E. I even bought this engine with gearbox, ECU and complete wiring. Swap was almost complete, when I've found complete 4AGE Bluetop front cut for bergain price. The choice was very simple - I've bought it :D.

The idea is to swap 4AGE and put my Turbo Kit from 4EFE.

Do you know any complete projects like this? Or any 4AGE swaps into EP91?

There are some problems that we are dealing with and it would be great to exchange ideas with someone who did this before :)

I'm also looking for bodykit from Glanza MK1:
- bumpers
- bonnet
- sideskirts
- front headlights
- front decal ('Glanza')

Thx for any help :)

Czesc :D !! anyways.. so welcome to the forum :D

im not familiar with the 4age blue top.. but i know of the 4a blacktop & silvertop.. both are fantastic engines.. the swap is not so simple im afraid, even though the engine mounts are very similar.. ;)

Iv seen a 4agze (changed over from supercharged to turbocharged) & plumbed into an ep71, so if that can be done then im sure it can work into an ep91 :)

best of luck! as for parts ull find all u need over here, just ask ;)

I have semi looked into this before as the 4age is a cracking engine.

Now from initial looks, its really not an easy job!!

Now the good thing i saw is that the 4efte (and maybe 4efe too) uses the same C series gearbox as the 4age. This means you can use the the 1 gearbox mount and poss the centre one on the 4age bx without mods... Now the bad part - the engine wouldnt physically fit like this from initial checks - its too big, would require the chassis cutting and modding and then a new engine mount made up....

Its doable but will take a bit of work. The advantage with that method is the normal starlet driveshafts should be able to be retained, as i know people that fit 4efte to na starlets can use the NA driveshafts...

We've put 7AFE in my EP91 which has the same block than 4AGE. The problem was with water pump. There was no place for it. We're thinking about electric waterpump or modding a stringer which is a reason of the problem.

If i may make a suggestion...why dont you combine the 7AFE with the 4AGE....in theory you'd have a 1.8l blue top engine.....
i have heard of it being done and running perfectly fine....
you would only have to fit the head of the 4AGE onto the block of the 7AFE..
further info....read up here... www.club4ag.com

Has been done but the 7afe bottom end cant really handle the higher revs of the 'G' cylinder head....

Oh, thats sounds good, you got any progress pics of the 7afe install??? Engine size wise they should be similar, width ways the same, just the stroke is diff....

Not exacly that simple ;)
First we want to fit 4AGE and add some boost. When this will be not enough I'll think about 7AGE.

With 4AGE and 0.6 boost I'll get sth around 200bhp on stock engine :)
Next mods will be rods and pistons and stand alone ECU. Then better turbo and 300bhp :)

I know that. We had to made new drivers mount for 7AFE. It's the same block as 4AGE so hopefully they will be ok for new engine.

The problem is with waterpump that is blocked by a stringer. We're wondering how this problem was solved in similar conversions.

Just use the 4agze bottom, it can easy handle 500hp

Unfortunately it's almost impossible to buy one of these here (Poland).
Two guys imported 4AGZE for their Corollas, but costs were huge.

I did a 4agze convertion in an AE 100 and a 3sgte in an AE100 but, not in an ep91 I know a guy trying to do it in an EP82. i will wait untill his done and then send pictures.
