4efe 4efte and 5e startermotors

WELL I HAVE THIS PROBLEM the theath of my startermotor are hitting my fly by 5 mm to much i can see the marks on the fly and starter theath

so are them starters difrent i just got this starter there a few days ago

o ya i am using the starlet 212mm fly

Clutches are a different size, the 5E bolt hole pattern is different but the outer diameter is the same for all 3 I am pretty sure. When you fit the starter is it properly seated in the hole in the gearbox, there is a degree of movement in them.

thanks weejohn ive only about 2 mill play whit the starter but i noticed that the starter pin is more sunk to the midle theres no way i can move it up 5 mill are there starters from other toyota models that fit on ? think this must be from another car or so ?

Give Jay a shout, he should have a few starters lying about.

4e, 4efte and 5e all have the same motor. seems you must have got a 5A or some other toyota starter motor. almost all of them are similar.
if you want to use this motor then you will have to fit a washer or spacer inbetween the motor and the housing or else cut/file away a small portion from the front of the starter motor wheel.
