4WD EP95 Turbo

hi, i was going to keep this whole project on the hush hush but im having some concerns that need addressing before starting it and i cant find the answers. I love the glanza but it is only a short stop for me as i want a 4wd eventually, however i came across the EP95 and im wanting to get 1 turbo'd and put a glanza kit on it, if i do this then it will be with me for years.

Anyways to my concerns
1) how much power can the 4wd system handle? eventually i want a fast spooling high powered turbo build for the track - probably the GT25R so looking at around 260bhp.
2) Would it cope with the track?
3) Will it still understeer because of the short wheel base?
4) someone told me you need more bhp to match the same speed of a fwd starlet, is this true or is it a load of bollox??

already had a few quotes, if i think it will be how i imagine it i will go ahead with it :)

thanks

This will be due to the added weight and the extra transmission losses of a 4wd system i would think

correcto mate!

weight and transmission loss would be a factor, but the traction made up would maybe make up for it?

i heard that the 4wd system on the ep95 is wank tho and couldnt handle over 250bhp i believe!

sounds like its all going to depend on whether i thinkthe transmission can handle the power then by the looks of things... i dont want to do it for the transmission to snap on me, if not then looks like im gettin a pulsar in a couple of years....

cryo-treat the gears & differential and replace the driveshafts with stronger units if you're worried, won't cost too much of a bomb

yeah would make up for it pulling off the line but what about dropping gears/ mid range etc.....

Which a brand new Carrera S "12.7" second car found out yesterday mwhaahahaha... sorry just went off on one.... lol

planning on putting over 300 through my ep85, so will see how it goes, just need to try things out and see how the transmission holds up, as long as you don't go out every night launching her at 5k i think it should hold up,

and watch those gear changes gary, 300HP on that box on such a light car....

trial and error though man, good luck....

As Riko said, get it cryo-treated. Better to be proactive than reactive

If the fwd starlet with the same amount of power can effectively put it all to the ground, then ur gonna b in trouble regardless of the better launch you will get off the line due 2 ur 4wd.

If he cant effectively get it to the ground, then wheelspin will kill him & u will b well on ur way

The AWD puts the power down without any problems. Wheelspin isn't too much of an issue from experience.

i have no doubt itll put it to the ground, but i heard the ep 4wd system just physically cannot take that kind of power and would go doo laly?

Hear Say is not much use.Unless you know for sure your better keeping quiet on the subject.

Heard

No doubt you heard it from someone who knows feck all about 4wd Starlets. There is a 320 bhp EP95 thats been doing rallies, hillclimbs, track days, drag races and just about any event he can get entered into.It is holding up just fine. The 4wd Starlets are like most Toyota's ,seriously over engineered and the driveshaft is a much stronger shaft than that of an Evo.Transfer box and halfshafts are also much better items than you would find on an Evo.
