on the lookout for an everyday car in the not so distant future hopefully. gonna be used everyday, possibly covering a few miles so fuel economy is key, and after the nightmare i had with a megane dci 100, im after a real gem of a car this time.

ideas folks. and lets have justification too.

Toyota D-4D? BMW Diesel - good choice -) Look what taxi driver's drive, the MPG is the most important for them -)

VAG group is another to look at. Will get a great car for the budget.

Ive not long picked up a Audi A4 Avant 2.0 TDI 170hp for that kind of money. Cracking motors

Bargain dude!

If you got 8K to spend then got to go Zim Zimmer. I had the 330i Petrol Straight Six, Sounded mental but was quite boring to drive tbh. Depends on what your driving style is, Big BMW or Small Golf TDi ftw

being a mechanic for 5 years i would say that although the germans (vw merc audi bmw) are the best to drive. when they go wrong it gets expensive. stay jap for reliablitity and low cost repairs!

yeh gta admit the vag options were high on my list. but i like the d4d toyotas aswell. aint rly mega keen on beemers 2bh. i spent 3600 on the megane and it was a bloody nightmare fuel system was fucked in the end. so just decided to splash out a bit more and get something really nice low mileage and newer.

Toyota diesels are PISH on mpg. You'll be lucky yo see 35mpg on a SR180 :( We get plenty in the work and i've never seen any over the 40mpg mark lol.

As above aswell, the VAG stuff is really nice to drive but not that reliable, and silly expensive when they go wrong :(
