Advice please

Hi all. Right my turbo died about 2 months ago, so i ordered a brand new tongs gt spec ct9 hybrid, off a member on extreem ep ( not naming any names) i was told that the turbo would take 10-24 working days. After 2 months it arived today. I was so happy that i wasnt guna have to be a "bus wanker " for much longer! Untill i opened it and saw it had a big crack on the wastegate. I no the geezer of extreem ep is a well respected guy, has sold hundreds of these turbos before. But what do i do. Send it back to him and wait another 2 months, ask for some of my money back, or just stick it on and hope for the best???

How bad is the crack? hairline cracks on the wastegate port are pretty common with ct9s. most hybrids are recon standard turbos, i too have that hybrid and cant faul its performance.
Just noticed your also from essex where abouts mate?

As David has said, cracks on the wastegate are fairly common.

If you can put up a pic so we can see if its going to cause you any problems, though chances are it'll be ok.

looks fine to be honest most ct9s either have or shortly will crack there. if ur unhappy with it get on the phone to him ive dealy with him many times and am sure he will sort something out for you

looks like its cracke all the way through to the exhaust wheel to me!!!

fairly acceptable

my 0.02 is that this is (fairly) acceptable. at the temps those turbos run, the metal expansion will seal that up once you are boosting and the turbo is hot enough.. imo. you can wait for other member opinions but as an addition, i think you should get on the phone/email with the trader and just share your thoughts -- let him know..

Was it advertised as to having cracks? If not send it back.
CT9's run hot, and the crack will only get worse.

to honest, these are not new items -- they are proli just cleaned up & refurbished so such are often expected, but as Rory said, if it was advertised as cracked then i guess you were kinda expecting it. if not, then perhaps give the chap a ring and hear what he has to say..
