Straightforward job detailed well in that link, you'll certainly enjoy the extra space and the ability to change the oil filter without being a contortionist ;)

you require a shorter power steering belt after the a/c pump has gone. part number is 4pk925 the 925 referring to the length of the belt and it is four ribs wide.

note: you need to take the car to an auto sparky to get the gas removed properly as it is extremely harmful to the atmosphere. not to mention highly illegal. and prison time/ heavy fines if you get caught letting it into the air.

one atom of r12 refrigerant will destroy more than 100 million ozone attoms over its life span. and here in NZ we already got a big enough hole to deal with. so please get it done properly.

Finxi is bang on the money here buddy, Go to kwik fit or somewhere like that they will discharge the gas safely for around £10. Then as mentioned get a non-a/c belt from any motorfactors for a Starlet/Glanza.

Removing everything will take around an hour and the space you have left is awesome. Ill stat with loosening off all large pipes that go into the bulk head and also into the radiator.

You then need to get underneath the car and actually remove the AC compressor and also the holder/ frame if you wish.

Dude one thing though once removed your fan will remain constantly on due to a sensor being unplugged. I did have a picture but removed it. Al you do is bridge the too terminals with a bit of wire and it will go back to normal.

The sensor is on the right hand side where the A/C pipes follow round into the Rad.

Im sure someone has a piccy here.

GOOD LUCK

yep defiently get the refrigerant recovered correctly by quick fit or an aircon specialist, it is illegal to vent refrigerant and if you get caught you can get sent to prison or a large fine the government are really clamping down on refrigerant leakage.

I think you'll find the laws are pretty bloody strict the world over, just very difficult to enforce. I know for a fact a lot of people all over the place flout the rules, it should definitely not be promoted on a forum like this.

Last time I did it I had it drained by an aircon professional for free, ask nicely and be flexible with timing and I'm sure you can find somebody similar locally. Worst case you might have to bring him a cold beer (or warm, whatever you like)

indeed :) thats a cute pic

problem is, while some people might not think much of it because it doesnt effect them it does have major affects other parts of the plannet.
