I am currently fitting a limited slip differential into a C56 EP91 Glanza gearbox. Here are some interesting things that perhaps fellow members might find interesting.
Only three different types of carrier bearings exist, such as:
(FOR FR DIFFERENTIAL CASE FRONT-otherwise known as the bell housing or drivers side)
90366‑38004 The one you will need if you fancy buying them from toyota.
90366‑55045 This is for the optional extra LSD gearbox which you dont need unless you are reconditioning your LSD box.
(FOR FR DIFFERENTIAL CASE REAR- this is the bearing for the passenger side, its the same for all C56 and C52)
90368‑38010
See http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_J_199601_TOYOTA_STARLET_EP91-AGMQY_4301.2.html?hl=41311E for a good diagram. The prices you see in dollars are fairly accurate combined with a three day lead time as of a couple of days ago.
As for the shims, here are the sizes available:
90564-41014 T=2.10,MARK A
90564-41015 T=2.15,MARK B
90564-41016 T=2.20,MARK C
90564-41017 T=2.25,MARK D
90564-41018 T=2.30,MARK E
90201-41051 T=2.35,MARK F
90564-41020 T=2.40,MARK G
90564-41021 T=2.45,MARK H
90564-41022 T=2.50,MARK J
90564-41023 T=2.55,MARK K
90564-41024 T=2.60,MARK L
90564-41025 T=2.65,MARK M
90564-41026 T=2.70,MARK N
90564-41027 T=2.75,MARK P
90564-41028 T=2.80,MARK Q
90564-41029 T=2.85,MARK R
90564-41030 T=2.90,MARK S
90564-41031 T=2.95,MARK T
90564-41032 T=3.00,MARK U
I assumed that when fitting the diff i would have to purchase a new one (€11 from toyota) to act as a base, but to my delight i found a mark on the shim which sorts out that problem. This saves me buying unnecessary shims that would go to waste
I can only assume that this will correspond to 2.30.
A big thanks to Terry for giving me this piece of gold: A 0.05mm change in shim thickness will alter the bearing preload by approx 0.3-0.4Nm...
update coming soon...:haha:
