Ive spent weeks trolling the internet looking for a cheaper alternative to the expensive apexi/denso 3 bar map sensor. I came across this info on a skyline forum and thought i would repost it here for future refrence. Its a 3bar map sensor from Volkswagen.
Be weary of cheap sensors from ebay, i got mine from darkside developments £26.69 delivered.
Ive also done some of donkey work and found the part number for the connector from Volkswagen.
1 x MAP Sensor (Female) Connector (1J0 973 704)
3 x Wiring (000 979 131A)
They should cost a £10 when order from a VW dealer
BOSCH part number 0 281 002 401
VAG group part number 038 906 051 C
they were used in VAG group, with diesel engines
(1.9/2.0 TDI - engine codes - ARL, ASZ... ) - 130/150hp
These cost fraction of price apexi/denso units,
and even less than GM map sensors !!
I have paid ca. £20 for each NEW !!
These are also integrated with temp sensor,
which is actually totally unuseless for me...
PINOUT :
1 GND
2 TEMP OUT
3 +5V
4 MAP OUT
(pin numbers are also stamped inside the unit, where the plug is connected)
The next step after wire em up to PFC is calibration and putting proper scale/offset values in datalogit.
These are 100% correct values, I have tested this on my PFC and it works perfectly.
SCALE 6722
OFFSET 650
