Arghh! I'm angry

Just been involved in a car accident, lucky enough it wasn't in my starbo!
Was on a roundabout in the outside lane about to come off at the junction I wanted, and some dopey woman was in the middle lane and decided she wanted to come over, she indicated and pulled straight out and hit the rear quarter of my corsa.
I then pulled over and began to exchange details, but all she told me was that the car was a company vehicle, she didn't know who it was insured with and handed me a piece of paper with her name on, her secretary's name and her phone number.

I had given her all what I thought was relevant information, name, address, contact number, registration. I took pictures of my car for reference, and went to take pictures of her car and she told me not to. She didn't even get out of the car to see the extent of the damage:mad: Nor did she ask if me and my girlfriend were ok:mad:

I went to the police and they said I have 24 hours to get the relevent details, after this time they are not able to do anything under the road traffic act, but if she refuses to give me her name and her home address then they will take matters further.

The problem I'm having though, is the car is only worth £1000, and my excess is £800! being 19 and to try and get the insurance cheaper :(
Is it worth going through the insurance? Will I be likely to lose no claims? What are the chances of her work company paying for the damage to my car if I didn't want to go through insurance?

I'm so annoyed! Why are some people so stuck up their own ass! What annoyed me the most was she didn't even get out of her car! She checked the damage on her car and didn't even bother checking my car. Her car wasn't even damaged, fucking jag's! I've got a nice dent in the rear quarter and blue paint all over it.

What are my best options?

I donrt know much about insurance dude so can't help. But good luck with everything. I rear ended someone 4 week ago who decided to stop instantly on a roundabout. Didn't go through insurance for my car cos of my excess but did for his. Fixed my own damage including new fmic. She sounds like a right stuck up cunt. I'd speak to her company see if they will fix without going through insurance cos of your excess. Good luck fella

Thanks guys.
Just worried about loosing no claims, and nor do I have the £800 excess either.
She was really stuck up her own ass, I don't wanna go through the insurance, but I haven't got the money to pay out for it to be done. I could probably take the inside card off and push the dent out, but it still leaves me with blue paint all over the rear quarter :(
She seemed in such a rush, as soon as the details were exchanged she started the car and sped off, I'm assuming it's probably not the first accident she's been in and nor will it be the last with her driving skills, or lack of them.

I'm happy that it wasn't the starbo, but its not really the damage i'm annoyed with, it's her:mad: lol.

First thing did you get her registration, I don't see you mention that in the first post. Secondly was there a smell of drink from her or her car, by the sounds of it she is trying to pull a fast one and wanted away from the scene too quickly. I'd ring the police again informing them of the drivers willingness to get away from the scene as if she had something to hide. Don't worry about your excess or going through insurance if it's her fault you won't have to pay a penny. Again to me this makes me think she is going to say it was your fault and try and get out of it. But I would definately keep the pressure on the police to try and get some follow up to this. And cross check the details she gave you, google the phone number see if it's real for a start.

Last christmas i had a bump with a female in the snow.. She decided she didnt want to drive in the snow anymore and proceeded to stop in the middle of the road on a hill... Well that was game over, i couldn't get stopped and ended up in the back of her. Funnily enough she was extremely arrogant and the first thing she said was "I assume you have insurance?" this was after i had finished asking if she was okay and apologising. After exchanging details and the likes, and a conversation with her mother, the girl was the same age as me (20) it was decided i would pay to sort her car and insurance wouldn't be involved..

3 DAYS LATER i get an abusive phonecall from her father and that now it was going through insurance. After he had a discussion with my father he tried to change again because it was his car his daughter was driving.. Long story short, my insurance paid out and i sorted my car myself, which meant i didnt pay my excess.

Being honest seems to get you nowhere.

It wasnt your fault dude, and if your corsa is your run about like my Pug was then i wouldnt bother claimin unless her work offer to sort it outwith Insurance involvement. If you got the reg and her name then just get in touch and see what she has to say for herself.

Hope you get it sorted and like it has been said before, be thankfull it wasn't a Starlet that got a battering :)

seaside- Yeah I did get her registration plate and had it checked at the police station, they said the woman was the owner of the vehicle and it was a company car. All they could tell me though was that the car was insured, MOT'd, tax'd, they wouldn't give me her address for data reasons, which I have to find out myself today. Nah she didn't smell of drink, and I couldn't smell any in her car either. I googled the phone number she gave me and it wasn't recognized, I then googled her name and found out, where she works, the address of where she works, her desk phone number. I find it a bit strange as to why she gave me her secretary's phone number rather than hers? But I will be phoning her later today to get her address and say that she is legally obliged to provide a personal contact number and a home address, or I will be taking it further. After that I will have to phone her secretary and ask if the business will pay for the damage rarther than going through insurance.

John-
Bit stupid why her father had to get involved, even if it was his car, it wasn't his nor was it your fault. In all fairness I could porbably have the dent pushed out if I take the inside card off, but then that still leaves me with blue paint all down the side which I hate, especially on a silver car it shows up like a good'un.

Can't wait for the phone call later!

Thanks guys

bowls in!!

did you get the reg of the vehicle? can see if insured, who by etc.
likley she will go to her insurers that you changed lanes... damage would be similar in either version of events.

likely settled on a 50-50 basis, your word against hers.... that is unless she is honest

Sorry to hear about it mate!

Unfortunately if you clam for the insurance even if it's not your fault your insurance premium will go up next year! I know silly rules but you better sort it out with cash and not with insurance company which is legal as well.

I would take the pics of her car don't care what she would say!

Try to ring her and ask for cash for a quick fix!!! She might agree with that, as she doesn't any hassle at work!

Ok, the mrs has been on the phone to the insurance company, and they said that they will sort the car and we won't have to pay a penny and we get a hire car. It doesn't affect my no claims and they said that seeing as the damage was done on the rear of the car it was the other drivers fault seeing as there is no other way to damage the vehicle in that way.

Sounds like a good news mate!

However, I've heard that many times that it does affect no claim bonus, may be it depends on the insurance company though!

Affected my insurance when somebody hit me! Unfortunately any incident whether at fault or not will affect it. Its disgraceful, but it happens! Good news though mate, take her to the cleaners!

Sure is good news, I'm waiting for the repair company to come out and take a look at the damage then I'm assuming they are going to give a quote to the insurance company, and its down to them to pay for the repair or write it off depending on how much its going to cost.
