Bank transfer how safe?

hey would like to know how safe bank transfers really are.

Handing over my account number and sort code just doesnt seem the best.

Bank transfer is fine mate, they dont get enough information to do anything.

no1 can take money from your account without the 16 digit number i believe,

i hope its ok, i just put 5k in my missus acount earlier lol.

i used bank transfer to speedvision once and it got lost!lol..the money went to someone else's acount,the bank fucked up and i was charged for getting it back and having to go and send it again

cool i bought a few things and payed via bank transfer afore.

Just the guy i bought a turbo which got "lost" in post wants to pay me back via it so ill send him my details over coolio lads

You can create a direct debit from your bank account details, they just need your name and address too.

i was always under the impression you need the 16 digit number, as whenever i create DD's, i need to supply this, aswell as the 3 digit code on the rear of the card.

Nope, because it's coming from your bank and not your card.

Clarkson also put his sort code and account number in the paper saying you couldn't be frauded, and someone set up a £500 direct debit from the details he published.
