hi all

i've replaced my turbo the other day and since i replaced the refurbished turbo the car has bene smoking on idle, no problems while driving but lots of smoke on idle.

what are the most likely causes?
turbo seal?
but it's a rebuilt turbo so what would be the next most likely thing?

If it was the exhaust turbin piston ring that had falled then it would smoke all the time as oill pressure that is fed via the oil feed would constantly push oil passed the exhaust piston ring even through the rev range but this guy has only got the smoking problem on idle!

So my gess is that its the rubber seals that have falled for what ever reason!..As when you come on boost so to speak the rubber seals get compressed via the compressor houseing and get pushed back there makeing a seal when you come on bosst but soon as you let the car idle the seals relax there for letting oil bypass the rubber seals!

but the leaked oil would have to travel far through my fmic to get to the engine to produce the smoke. sounds unlikely

no...its on the exhaust side...its not connected to the ic..its burn with the heat in your exhaust pipe causing smoke..
