boost! help!!

I have jsut brought a new mk1 gt and it only has an aftermarket backbox, dumpvalve, and filter, this is my 4th gt and when i drove it properly it felt like the fastest 1 i have had and it has the least mods, well wen i looked at boost gauge while booting it, it shows its boosting 1bar, can this be right considering it has no boost controller, standard acctuator etc
help me!!

could be a 1bar preset actuator ,, they look similar to the stock one

yes very possible due to cold weather etc.
But u shud be hitting fuel cut so maybe the boost gague is out

check to see have you an aftermarket ecu. I think it is probably something like a Jam ecu working with a Jam actuator, If its just boost creep alone then it shouldn't boost over 0.8-0.9 bar due to fuel-cut but as Spoonz said it may be a dodgy gauge

the mk1s can hit pretty much 1 bar without hitting fuel cut anyway. mine always could. check for a fcd or an uprated ecu or something.

when your sitting in the car it just to the left of your left foot in a plastic tray thing.

just checked and i found a little black box hanging down with jam super tuning written on it?

Get your car to a rolling road and check see if the afr's are ok

so how come its running a bar surly standard actuator wont hold it would it, its not safe to run that all the time is it, how would the boost been turned up?

does it creep to 1 bar in the higher revs or hit 1 bar straight away? (around 3,000 rpm).

if its not creeping then it could be an uprated standard actuator.

yeah it hits it sraight away no creep or nothing, so its def not ecu, i didnt look in casing i just saw a little black box hanging down

its either just a particularly good actuator, an uprated standard type actuator or a sticky actuator.
it is pretty damn cold though so im not suprised its boosting pretty high.

oryt kk is it bad to run that sort of boost with a near standard car

on standard fuelling with the standard manifold and exhaust its not the best idea.

get a full exhaust, manifold and get the fuelling sorted and it should be fine.
