boost spike tdo5

my evo 3 is spiking to 0.9bar when come on boost then falls to 0.63 after a few seconds!
this soubds like a sudden spike or surge more than creep!
i fiited a mbc dawes device but thats minumum setting was 0.8 and i was gettin creep to 1.2bar(1 bar max on evo 3 stock engine) so had to remove mbc

i plan to get a gizzmo electronic boost controller fitted will this cure the spike some bit as i want to run a safe 0.9 bar but not able:( and a tdo5 at 0.63bar is just pants:(

will boost controller cure spike? why is spike hapening?

i understand creep but a sudden spike i do not understand:(

standard boost is 0.7bar boost solenoid can be ruled out due to spike hapening when mbc fitted

is there a stronger actuator like hks,on it?if not id get one first as ya could have a weak actuator causing it to spike

You could get a better MBC,one that will hold boost lower down.Then check the actuator,if its weak get a new one as it'd casue the boost drop off.Either that or you might have a leak somewhere.

A weak actuator causing boost spike?

What you will find is boost control on the early evos isnt easy to get right, idd be suprised if an ebc fixes all your boost issues especially with the colder weathet coming. Your best bet would be to check your actuator operates freely by disconnecting it from the turbo and pulling the arm out, next put some pipe onto the actuator inlet securely and blow as hard as you can into the pipe if you can hear any air escaping then the diaphragm in your actuator could be naffed. If the first two tests are ok then idd bin the standard boost solenoid and just fit as short as pipe possible from the compressor discharge nipple onto the actuator and see how it behaves on controlled actuator only, then fit the MBC in between the pipe making sure its the right way around the ball bearing side of the dawes goes to the boost source pipe then the other directly to the actuator. If boost control is still poor then your going to have to port the wastegate out but it isnt hard.

thanks guys for replys! ya my suspicion is actuator as shouldnt be falling to 0.63 when standard boost is 0.7 bar! camskill sell oem actuators for 200gbp sterling! was thinking of getting one and a gizzmo ebc and see how i get on!
