I disagree with everything above.
My mate has an orange 350Z and i must say does completely nothing for me at all. Power delivery is very poor and it weighs 1500kg, you would receive better responce from a Cruise Liner. I mean a nearly 300hp car that has a Power/Weight of under 200bhp per tonne is pathetic in my eyes. We have went on many spirited runs and its easily left behind trailing the pack from Astra VXR's with a basic map on them, Focus ST with breating mods which results in the Starlet cruising past.
To say a 220bhp is a poor is being very narrowminded. Everyone on this forum who has their eyes open will agree that a decently setup 220hp Starlet will shock alot of the bigger boys on track and on the roads, which is the concept of why we love these cars! I fail to see how an almost 260bhp per tonne from a 1.3 is poor? Anyway their is absolutely no comparison between is a 3.5 280hp+ car to a 1.3 130hp car ... even if both cars had similarish mods i still cannot see how you can compare night and day!
This part sums it up for me though ... an N/A is more fun than a Turbo-charged car is nonsence! The feeling of an N/A car doesnt even compare in the slightest to a Turbo-charged car. Nothing almost happens in N/A when you accelerate apart from alot of noise. Its the complete opposite of the power delivery from a turbo-charged car.
My car runs a basic TD04 which is very easy to drive around town, motorway, backroads and all the essentials i require it to do. Yes the TD04 can be laggy but its all about how you drive it, it you dont know how to drive the car correctly then you probally do receive most of the factors stated in the last setence. However, right gear right time provides none of these issues.
Firstly i wasnt comparing the 350z to the starlet i was comparing the starlet to a powerful N/A and used MY 350 as an example not your mates orange one as for some unknown reason my 350 is alot quicker then other ones ive compared to, not a bloody clue why but easy low 13 sec quarter, pisses on my old EK and evenly matched with my bros Dyno proven 320BHP Mapped evo 5 all the way to 150MPH then i start pulling on him!. So yeah not a slow one. I havent been in another 350 apart from mine.
I dont want to go into how my 350Z performs but she is fast and a few people on this forum would vouch
And the track model which they only sell in Europe weighs 1450 and mine is minus 60KG so weighs around 1390KG.. Power to weight ratio isnt always the answer proven so many times anyway.
I didnt mean a 220BHP starlet is poor, i just mean it does very little for me in terms of power delivery and really isnt that quick for what it should be down on paper.. Ive been in so so many set up starlets ints unreal so my opinion is pretty wide on this dude. And i didnt mean for a 1.3, im just criticizing a small engine i guess, and the 4E in general is pretty weak, compared to other engines out there anyway. For a 1.3 its very cool but the power delivery is empty compared to a larger engine even if your going as quickly, just feels like a small engine, which some like, fair enough
Thats cool about you thinking N/A are boring dude, your opinion, im sure you've got enough experience to know what you like, as i do at 25 and been driving for 8 years.
And yeah i do like the TD04 on the 4E, it works very well and is a nice turbo. Who is saying otherwise? Sorry if i offended anyone, thats not what my aim was, just giving my opinion from my experience
