Camshaft journal wear/damage ?

Bought a second hand head from a local fella there this evening for next to nothing, £30 infact, head was running a TD04 before I bought it and I bought it as "sold as seen". on closer inspection after stripping it down ready to be rebuilt, I noticed there is wear, on the edge of the camshaft journals ? how would this of happened ? should I replace the cams or send them off with the head when its getting ported, polished and skimmed ? its only small but noticeable when you look closely.

need pics mate. i would only worry about scoring on the journals themselves. how bad is this where? has it worn a groove or anything??

Some wear on the journals is normal, but as said scoring is a bad thing. It could have been done if the camshaft caps have not been tightened down properly.

as said already if its only on the sides dont worry about it its normal

Its right on the the edges ! like little chips on the edges. The journals themselves aren't scored, its just right on some of the edges.
