I ran a skimmed stock flywheel for some time with no problems. I didnt ask for it to be skimmed to a specific weight, I left it up to the machinist to remove from the back what he was happy with, without compromising the strength. I did tell him to take as much weight out around the outer edge as possible but as this is where a lot of the gains are.

The stock fly wheel can be skimmed but havent measured how much.
It does make a difference. I had a ride in both cars, one with stock and another one with skimmed stock flywheel.
You best bet is to leave it to the machinist as removing too much weight will weaken and it becomes more prone to cracking.

reliability?

i'd be more worried about its reliability after skimming.. and risk of cracking/shattering etc.. any horror stories (yet)..?
