can this be fixed?

took the standard mani off my engine the other day and a bit of the cylinder head came off with it!

so is it worth fixing it or should i replace it?

replace it mate, it wont last two seconds if you try re-pairing it

iv got another engine anyway i was planning to sell but i might just whip the head off it

one of the heads i got here is same, exact same place to the perfection :haha:

yeah ive seen a few crack in the exact same place it must be a weak spot or a spot that takes a lot of strain from the mani/turbo etc

Quite an easy repair, we have done quite a few now and they seem to holding up fine

Strip it off and bring it over mate I'll weld it up for you mate. You still got the chunk that came off I'm guessin?

Thats an easy sort if you know someone that can weld with alloy, and then have the gasket face re-machined

iv got another engien i could whip thje head off anyway. i dont want to put the engine in the car and then have to stirp the head back off again. thanks guys rep added


also if i did get it welded can it be done without taking the head off?

Can be repaired no problem, common fault on the exact same spot.

Be easier taken the head off, wouldnt take long to get the head off it either if the engines out its much easier.

Mine did the exact same thing. Dave at TMD repaired mine and still going strong.

lol, my head is exactly the same at the moment, same place, same crack shape the lot. Although it is hanging on with a ball hair. Just stuck the new gasket on with the mani and tightened it all back up. It's holding for now until I get another head or whatever.

Get the head off ad have it sorted properly.
If you leave the head on block, there will be no way of doing it properly.

Easy fix,but head will have to come out as during welding the heat will destroy the headgasket.
